I almost feel sorry for the guy. Almost. Alllllllllmost. He’s got MAGA mad at him, and may lose his Speakership. Personally, I think it would be easier to just keep him in the interests of time and simplicity. A new Speaker has a lot to learn in a very short time. At least Matty Gaetz and his nonsense aren’t in office anymore. I figure he’s pissed off both sides of the aisle, but was determined to get a CR through so he (they?) can worry about a longer one by the time this one runs out. The Speaker’s role is in no way an easy one. That’s a helluva lot of stress put on the shoulders of one person. I wonder if he even sleeps. I know our side of the aisle is against the Republican side and their inanity, but lawdy think about that stress.

He is alone, trying to corral half a House of people determined to have him know that “what we say goes and you’d better listen to us or we will make your life of living hell.” That would then be a House of rampant individuals, all thinking their way is best, from BOTH sides of the aisle. I would think it would be fine, in a manner of speaking, for him to “just” become a Congressperson again. And if he *is* driven out, will it be days and days to pick a new Speaker? It was the last time, and there is an election to ratify in 3 days but the Speaker has to be chosen first. So to the House of Representatives, PICK. SOMEONE.

Then off we go to the psychotic denizens of MAGA. Goooood grief. THEY are mad at him daring to stay in Washington and govern. This makes less than no sense but when did they ever make any sense? Well, apart from tanking Matty Gaetz’ chances of becoming the AG. I’ll bet Trump reeeeeeealy enjoyed that part. He loves pitting his staff against each other – which might be why things rarely get done by him. But back to Mike. MAGA is pissed he didn’t come to the Turning Point rally. Well, get over it because he was working to keep the government open and their bills paid. Now it’s only 3 months, but still. And since Matty has been reduced to an ordinary person, of *course* he can be there and take a part in it. Mike *works* for a living. Dunno what’s gonna happen to Matty *shrug* Just because he gives ME the creeps, he might not to do the same for someone else.

Oh wait. Matty does have a new job already over at OANN, if you can call that a job. So, he won’t have to work very hard so he actually came out okay. Mike still has to work in Washington. Mike will STILL work in Washington. Leave it up to the man to show a tiny bit of loyalty. I think I’m impressed.

And I know I was kinda feeling sorry for a Republican but I assure you it’s not a normal thing. But when you dig a littler deeper into his situation it really makes you think. Just for a little while, you think. Wait. Just a moment. I’ve seen some of the other potential candidates and YIKES! I do NOT want to be near these folks. Well, heck, we can blow it off because he’ll do what he has to do. Not my or our problem. It’s his only and I hope it’s fun!

  1. Maybe he should exchange the ‘abby normal’ brain accidently put into the monster in Young Frankenstein, for one in touch with reality. Put all the christo-fascists, like HIM, into a blender, squeeze through a truth strainer, and using 78 MILLION of their souls…not enough truth to fill a teaspoon. Example: Noah took dinosaurs onto the ark. Right. And fairies fly out of my ass when I’m asleep bringing toys to the children at Christmas. GOD WHAT A COUNTRY OF MORONS! HE’S THE THIRD PERSON IN LINE FOR THE PRESIDENCY. Clearly we get what we deserve. The children don’t…they are innocent. THESE PHUCKERS ARE NOT. Sympathy? Not a goddamn chance.

  2. Oh…and mikey…as a white father of several black and mixed children…what exactly happened to your black son????? You lying mutherfucker! When’s the next klan meeting you pustule on God’s ass?

  3. Susan, I agree with you. I feel sorry for Mike Johnson (and all the Mike Johnsons including some who are developing on the Dem side). The reason Johnson is at this point is because he was too weak to be true to himself. Everyone has things they believe in and want to succeed in and Johnson WAS no different. All politicians have this strength to begin with, but then…too many of them fall victim to the idea that you can please everyone if you just bounce back and forth seeking their approval. HAH! It’s impossible and soon your beliefs don’t even exist anymore! If you stay true to your ideals instead of your ambition, you may not be a heartbeat away from ultimate power, but you will be the better human. AND…many who have reached ultimate power did so because they stayed true and gained the support of people who saw that and rewarded that. Yah, I can sound like a naive political Pollyanna, but I was raised on Kennedy Camelot ideals and I still feel they have a place in politics that is better than sniveling and groveling and ass-kissing! POLITICS STRONG!! ✊️💪

    • Cleora…I was in the fifth grade when Kennedy was shot. Remember it well…since I followed the Civil rights movement closely, I remember when Medgar Evans was shot in front of his family, Dr. King shot in the face with a high caliber rifle, watched Oswald get shot on tv, and Malcolm X shot by black religious hypocrites with collusion from the white establishment. Kennedy was a real naval hero, and certainly forced Russia to back down in the Cuban missile crisis, challenged us to the moon, etc., but there were dark sides and coverups. I knew his personal trainer years after he was killed. He was a physical wreck, having chronic conditions and a back injury from the war. He was a womanizer no doubt. If Biden had the same press Kennedy had…he’d had very little blowback. If Kennedy had the media today…his personal life would have been an albatross around his neck. Camelot is a fantasy story is my point. Never was. Never will be.

  4. I was in the 3rd grade, Scott, and my memory of the “Four Dark Days” is very sharp, including the murder of Oswald on live TV and the Kennedy funeral live as well. I also remember my tears a few months earlier when my Mom woke me with the news that “the [Kennedy] baby died.” So, I didn’t really need the history lesson and in a way you proved the point I was making. I didn’t say that Kennedy was perfect or that Camelot was real. I said I was raised on the ideals of Camelot. Strength, heroism, pride of country, dreaming big and working hard to realize them, and giving a shit about other people. Those ideals still exist and there are still people standing up for them. I feel very sorry for people like Mike Johnson who flit between other people’s professed ideals and let their own just rot away!

    • A man who stands for nothing will believe anything…to paraphrase Malcolm X. That’s him. I would bet your knowledge didn’t include someone who was a personal friend of John’s, his trainer, who was a friend of the family. I think I heard a few stories you didn’t learn watching TV, or that were reported. Things were different when we grew up. The news couldn’t lie 24/7. The internet was decades away. Books I was required to read in H.S. and college are now banned. We were lucky in some ways.
