With the practiced certitude of a grifting television evangelist, Bossier City, Louisiana’s finest Mike Johnson (foreground, left of center above), claimed in his speech after he was sworn in as Speaker of the House of Representatives yesterday that his elevation to that position had been “ordained” by God:

“Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, in his first remarks after being elected Wednesday afternoon, told Members of Congress that “Scripture” and “the Bible” are clear that they have been “ordained” by God.

“I want to tell all my colleagues here what I told the Republicans in that room last night,” Speaker Johnson declared. “I don’t believe there are any coincidences in a manner like this. I believe that Scripture, the Bible is very clear that God is the one that raises up those in authority. He raised up each of you, all of us. And I believe that God has ordained and allowed each one of us to be brought here for this specific moment in this time. This is my belief. I believe that each one of us has a huge responsibility today, to use the gifts that God has given us to serve the extraordinary people of this great country and they deserve it.”

I hate to be the one to break it to ya Mike, but it was the voters in your district, and not your sky God, that “ordained” with their votes that you would represent them in Washington D.C., and someone distinctly not in anyway godly that “ordained” that your sedition-supporting scrawny ass be elevated to the Speakership:

“Former President Donald Trump extended his congratulations to Louisiana Republican Mike Johnson on his election as the new House Speaker. Speaking to the media outside the courtroom for his civil fraud trial, Trump said, “I just want to congratulate Mike Johnson. He will be a great Speaker of the House, and we were very happy to help.”

Trump also took credit for his role in Johnson’s victory, stating, “At this time yesterday, no one was thinking of Mike — and then we put out the word, and now he’s the Speaker of the House.”

Trump lauded Johnson as a “tremendous man” and said he is “going to make us all proud.”

You got that, Speaker Johnson? The lowlife that is currently being tried, and with but little doubt convicted of civil fraud, and is also being prosecuted for espionage and sedition, is the entity responsible for your new position – and not your phony God who – when he is not busy raising up representatives- tells you to hate gays, oppress women, and lives only in that very small space between your ears.

David Cay Johnson, famed Trump critic and chronicler of the Orange one’s myriad financial crimes, posted about Johnson’s shallow understanding of matters spiritual, his “ordination”… and provided my top photo.

David’s followers provide the commentary:

Amen, Christopher.

Yup.

Guess he skipped over that passage, JBT.

Yup.

Of course David Cay Johnson, due to his high profile criticisms of Herr Gropinfuhrer, attracts a lot of commentary by supporters of the Orange oaf… and the following is typical of that segment of opinion:

To clear things up, Lori, David Cay Johnson criticized those members for for praying in the very public spot in front of the dais of the House where the business of the House and the State of the Union addresses are conducted.

As is his right.

He leveled the charge of blasphemy at the new Speaker for conflating his election by voters with an act of God and his elevation to his new post as the same, when in reality it was only the expressed desire of a disgraced grifter in clown makeup that made it happen.

I predict we will be seeing much more of Speaker Johnson giving “God” credit for the regressive conservative legislation he and his fellow Christian Nationalists will introduce in the coming months.

And I fear what is coming will be blasphemy on steroids.

    • Isn’t it funny when the one piece of scripture they forget is …

“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the temples and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others…”
      Matthew 6:5

Except now it’s not funny, it’s frightening.

Like everything else they do, their practice of religion is performative, not genuine.

  1. This azzhole gives Schiithouse rats crazy lessons…..look at this MAGAt…..he has more skeletons in his closet than Jeffrey Dahmer.

We have to survive a year and a bit…..but then we will return to sanity in the House.

    • And in that year, the Repugnicans will introduce a whole slew of bills via the new God-ordained Speaker which will show everyone just what the GOP’s all about these days: tyranny. Whether or not Trump is convicted of his crimes against America, the corrupt cowards in the House will carry on his agenda, to destroy our democracy. That will make the choice next November clearer than ever, even to those who prefer not to know or care.

      • The pathetic part of all this is that it is highly probable that every piece of legislation coming out of the house between now and the next election will be D.O.A.

        • Well not every piece I’m thinking. It’s not going to be good but this clown knows that he will have to give a little. Very little but a little. But what they did do is seal their fate. Unless I’m mistaken there will be a blue wave across the whole government this round. They have gone just a bit to far.

  2. The truth shall set you free…Jesus. Anyone who believes what goes on between their ears is the absolute truth about the mystery of ‘God’ is a liar and a blasphemer. They worship idolatry in their heads. In ancient culture, where almost all people were illiterate, the prevailing belief was ‘God’ was responsible for EVERYTHING that happened. If your donkey died, God killed it. If you fell in a hole, God did it. That is ignorance personified. By his ‘logic’ he, and these murderous traitors are there by the hand of ‘God’. According to his belief, the shooter in Maine, using an assault weapon, the Republicans put in his hand, was an agent of ‘God’ when he went into a bowling alley holding a CHILDREN’S event, and shot the place up. 22 dead, some have to be children and some child lost a parent. 60 wounded with a round from a military assault weapon which DOES MAXIMUM damage. That asshole’s ‘God’ is one murderous evil bastard. Hey phucker…here’s a prayer from someone who studied the BIBLE at a public ivy, the oldest state university, WITH SCHOLARS… may God decide to stop killing children and put YOU AND YOU KILLERS IN CONGRESS IN THE CROSSHAIRS AND BLOW YOUR ASS AWAY…A GOOD START! AMEN.

  3. spike…I feel the same but I’m afraid not ever on this side of the grave. Same answer as to WHEN will the phucking human species get with reality.

  4. Dear Lori Mills,
If you actually read that Bible instead of thumping it, you would have known the passage in which Jesus tells us to render unto Caesar the things that are,Caesar’s…And the bit about the Samaritan making it clear that works matter. And his ardent hatred for hypocrites and his love for the humble men who acknowledge their imperfections and do not see themselves as better than others because they pray loudly.

I have a niece just like you. She is the meanest, most arrogant needs hatch I have ever met in my 74 years– she goes to church twice on Sunday, prayer service on Wednesday,, and Bible Study. She has never raised a finger to.help anyone.

I don’t think Johnson was ordained by god, but if there is an incarnation of evil, that is very likely the one who appointed this disgusting misogynistic, gay hating, holier wth and thou piece of crap.

  5. Well I really hate to break it to these fine souls and their kneeling and praying and just all around castigating themselves to this God character. But if you remember right. God had sort of a cantankerous, negative relationship with government. They were like all the time at odds after people started saying things like he was the son of God and some kind of king. Seems to me if I remember right. They made him drag this big heavy cross through town and up that hill until they could nail him to it and watch him die. So I might suspect anything that some God guy might be whispering in your ear. I mean the parts I got around to reading were pretty clear on God and government. Now there is another feller that did get along with all those business people and was always ready to hand down some advice. Course you were better off not heeding that advice because that orange red dude is pretty stupid. Now I think I might know why Donnie keeps his hair all wound around his head and poofed up. Gotta hide the horns somewhere.

Now I ain’t got nothing against praying. Done it myself. But there’s a time and a place for that. And I’m telling you right now. I ain’t buying that crap. Anyone with real religious beliefs ain’t going to hoist their petard in the middle of a government room like that. But some flake from right wing religious showboats from hell would be all over it. Get a grip their buddy. If you see Jesus coming on to you while knelt down like that. You better run like hell because Jesus ain’t coming to shake your hand, moron. He’s coming to rip your arm off and beat you to death with it. One of the things everyone gets wrong about the Bible. After you tried peace and they keep coming. It’s time to defend yourself and others and kick some hillbilly ass.

  6. By the way…conservatives have been using that Ceasar quote to say you should obey the government. I wasn’t there 2000+ years ago, so who the hell REALLY knows if Jesus said it. If he did, who the hell knows what he meant? I could say he’s being sarcastic. Render unto Ceasars what is his? Really? What was his exactly? EVERYTHING he had he obtained through conquest, i.e., murder, rape, theft, etc. Oh, and they maintained control by the same, including crucifying thousands and leaving them to rot by the side of the road to remind everyone DONT PHUCK WITH US. Jesus might have meant phuck Ceasar, and any government based on injustice. He certainly didn’t respect Ceasar’s governor when brought before him. He refused to even answer questions knowing Pontius Pilate was the ultimate authority over his fate.

  7. But of course, Mike Johnson, won’t apply the same “biblical” standard and say that President Biden and the Democratic Leadership are “ordained”. Oh no, he interprets Romans 13 with a caveat that says, “Republican Leaders only”. Hypocrisy at its finest
