Given the week her P.O.S. hubby-in-name-only just had it makes sense Melania Trump would want to create a little distance between the two of them.  The haughty Ms. ‘I Don’t Really Care Do U?’ is quietly claiming she tried (really hard!) to stop Donald from a couple of things and he ignored her ‘Be Best’ advice. Well hell ‘Melanie’, Trump is the very personification of BEST. He’s the first to say so! Anyway the claim is she ‘advised against’ a couple of controversial White House renovations.  Maybe she did, maybe she didn’t but even if the former two iconic WH features are gone.

As Alternet reports during a recent podcast a couple of pundits about the upcoming book Regime Change by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan there were Melania tidbits including some of the stuff we’ve already gotten about Don the Con.  Daily Beast podcast hosts Joanna Coles and Hugh Daugherty covered two specific things Melania objected to (so she says) only to have Donald ignore her and do what he wanted. Well, as I said earlier it’s debatable if or how much Melania tried to rein him in but no one will doubt the second part. Trump did what the hell he wanted!

Let’s start with turning what was left of Jackie Kennedy’s iconic Rose Garden:

Last year, Trump paved over the Rose Garden. According to Dougherty, the book reveals that the First Lady’s team relayed that she was “very unhappy” with the changes, and only secured a few compromises, like getting Trump to keep the rose bushes.

“It turns out he wanted to pave over the whole lot,” Dougherty said, relaying details from the book. “He wanted the roses gone as well.”

Frankly I don’t believe for a second Trump gave in to his fake wife.  If he chose to leave what rose bushes remained it was only because at the time he though THAT might be going too far.  He had bigger plans which I’ll get to. Besides, even the patio at his tacky Mar A Lago has a bit of landscaping!

As for the second and bigger project, I can see how she might have actually objected to tearing down the East Wing. Not because of the history of the place but he had her very own office suite there. He haven for when she has to spend time at the DC other than whatever bedroom is furthest from where Donald sleeps:

A similar scene unfolded with the demolition of the East Wing, which Trump tore down to make way for a ballroom. Trump’s team knew “that this was not going to make the First Lady happy, but it still went ahead,” according to Dougherty.

Yes there’s lots of bigger and more important stuff going on. No doubt the bombshells from Regime Change Haberman and Swan have released are just a warmup. However it seems they really did make an effort to dig into the small stuff.  Like this. And, as Alternet points out at the end of the linked article additional personal and unflattering (to Trump) tidbits:

Coles and Dougherty also talked about details that came up in the book about Melania and Trump’s separate bedrooms and descriptions of how White House staff “have to clean up because he leaves discarded detritus from his fast food habit on the floor,” Dougherty said.

Yuck. But I’m getting the feeling if Regime Change is going to include a bunch of this mundane stuff in addition to what’s sure to be lots of large and meaningful things it’s going to be an epic takedown. Trump of course won’t read the book. He doesn’t read ANY books. In a way that could make this more entertaining because instead of a few days of dealing with answering questions (while denouncing) the book Trump will spend weeks getting with a steady drip of ‘What is your response to such-and-such as reported in the book Regime Change?’ It will drive him nuts!

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
