So tempting. Amirite?

Matt Gaetz says that he will resign from Congress, which – admittedly, is likely as trustworthy as his other promises if Democrats were to join a small group of Republicans to vote in a moderate.

Laura Ingraham asked: Are you going to be OK, Congressman, will you be OK then if there’s ultimately a deal struck with moderate Democrats if Democrats kind of co-control committees? You’re fine with that?

GAETZ: No, absolutely not. That will not happen. There are two scenarios here —

Ingraham wasn’t satisfied with the answer because she has to know that Democrats are likely tempted to get creative and “get in this war” (to cite a famous line) and asked again: Well, that’s what happened.

I have no idea what she’s talking about unless she’s referencing a point in history when such a scenario played out, or – perhaps, the Democrats are currently in talks with some Republicans.

The important part was Gaetz’s answer:

No, listen. I’m on the floor, Laura. These 212 Democrats are going to vote for Hakeem Jeffries every single time. He is a historic candidate for them. They are not going to cleave off under any circumstance. I assure you if Democrats join up to elect a moderate Republican, I will resign from the House of Representatives. That is how certain I am. I can assure your viewers that won’t happen.

Oh, well, then let me retort. Please to be fucking off now.

The Democrats have been voting 212 for Jeffries to ensure that the wall is higher than anything McCarthy can climb without GOP help and because, as we all know because I wrote it last night, it would only take one math screw-up and a Gohmert-Ronny Jackson special to elect Hakeem Jeffries as Speaker of the House.

BUT, Matt, do not underestimate the wily Democrats. If they see an opening to get someone that they can make deals with (Chair of certain Committees?), it would – in theory – only take six Republicans. In reality, it would likely take close to 50, enough such that no small group had to take responsibility.

Jesus, they might do it just to call your bluff.

    • I get that a lot. I got the inspiration from a New Yorker review of Episode 3 of the Star Wars saga, where the guy was making fun of Yoda, master jedi of the universe who can’t speak in normal sentences and he said, “Break me a fcking give!” And I thought, “Man, I could play with something like that…

And now I see it other places when I first used those 15-20 yrs ago. Shoulda’ copyrighted it.
