Is there a more likable billionaire than Mark Cuban? He’s kind of got that nerdy but fun thing wrapped around some genius. He used to be in Donald Trump’s corner back when Trump was an outsider to government, running to shake things up. Something happened. Yes, it was surely that Trump shook things up too much, ignoring guard rails, ignoring all attempts to unify the country, and generally doing things to favor Trump’s businesses. For that reason, along with some glaring others, Cuban turned into one of Trump’s most effective adversaries.

Today, Cuban went to see Kamala Harris speak in person in Pittsburgh and he walked away extremely impressed. He then sent some finely-honed apple pie Trump’s way in stating that Trump isn’t someone who deserves to be reelected. According to our friends over at Rawstory, we bring you the raw meat:

Mark Cuban called former President Donald Trump — whom he’s known for decades — nothing more than a salesman, and said Harris is the one in charge.

Umm. Ouch? If there is one thing that a politician really doesn’t want to be, it’s a salesman. After all, a salesman doesn’t build anything and then is gone once the sale is made, or once the election is done. You want the person in charge of getting stuff to the public, understanding the needs of the entirety of the business, someone who brings customers in, not booting them out, managing all elements. And Cuban went on:

“Donald is so impetuous. You can tell that the Kamala Harris team has vetted every single thing she said. Not just ‘does it sound good?’ ‘Does it hold good?’ [But] really, is it good, strong policy?”

One of the most important elements in qualifying as a presidential candidate is the ability to put a team together that can actually win. What is the White House if not a big team of people working together to help the country? Whereas former President Obama and President Joe Biden put together cabinets that remain undisturbed, former President Trump had a cabinet that was always in flux, people going in and out. He seemed unable to keep a Chief of Staff for more than a year. Cuban knows the importance of management and stability. He said of Harris’s ability as a CEO:

[She knows she must “do this right because I’m responsible for my stakeholders, and we need to do it the right way. You could not have a greater difference between two candidates.”

Again, Cuban has a proven nose for talent and ability in his business acumen. He also knows how to look long term in putting something bigger together. Salesman may be needed and good, but they aren’t responsible for the long term growth of shareholders and repeat customers. This is probably not genius insight, but it certainly weighs more coming from someone like Cuban.

In the end, Cuban just tapped into what much of the country believes about Harris and Donald Trump. To be sure, they are running neck and neck. In North Carolina they are within 0.5 percentage points. The trend, however, favors Harris.

It would seem as though that half of the American people already know that Harris can manage this. It’s reminiscent of that guy affectionately known as “no drama Obama.” She could certainly do much worse as a model of competency. She may be the first woman President…

But there are a lot of women CEOs.

  1. Democrats absolutely abound with something seemingly all republicans lack.

    Competence.

They can get things done – and just as importantly, you can TRUST they’ll get things done.

They have a record of achievement, the republicans only have lies, and lies about ‘concepts of plans’.

People vote for trustworthiness, honesty, and competence; not lies and fantasies.

    • My last republican city councilmember got drunk, passed out in the drive through of a fast food place. hit somebodies car, crashed his car and pissed himself. his replacement also got busted for dui. get an uber

    • Not to be a nag but millions of people do not vote for any of those virtues every election. And in 2020, and again in 2024 certainly, millions will once again vote for lies and fantasies when they pull the lever for don-old just like they did the past two general elections. Yes, in general dems vote for competence at the very least and often trustworthiness, etc. but I would not even say they do so all the time (Menendez in N.J. comes immediately to mind).

Don’t forget-the ‘pubes became the party wanting to “make government so small you can drown it in a bathtub.” You don’t need any sterling qualities to destroy government-merely stupidity and malice.
