You may ask yourself why it is important that we cover these things. Many people do. It’s a daily cry on social media, “Don’t give these people any oxygen, just ignore them.” I’ll tell you exactly why it’s important to pay attention to what these clowns are up to. As we speak, the G7 conference is taking place in the UK. Yes, “America is back” and we’re mighty glad of it, as are our allies. But they’re not sure it’s going to stay back.

Still, some leaders are skeptical that U.S. politics, with its deep partisan divisions, will remain stable enough for the country to return to its place as a reliable global power. Le Monde, a leading French newspaper, said in an editorial after the election that “Trumpism” was not an accident but a “lasting heritage of American politics.”

“The allies do have lingering doubts about the forces that produced Trump’s election in 2016 and are wondering whether those forces are gone for good, or that possibility that the US could shift back to a more contentious, more transactional approach to NATO in 2022, or 20 2024,” said Alexander Vershbow, former deputy secretary of NATO and former ambassador to South Korea and Russia. “I think this concern is real that, you know, the Trumpian trend tendencies in the U.S. could return full bore. And in the midterms, or in the next presidential election.”

This is why we watch what the right-wing is doing. Had we all been paying closer attention during the halcyon Obama years, when most of us were lulled into a liberal stupor and believed that the country was something different than in fact it is, we might never have had to suffer Trump. We might have seen it coming.

So let’s take a look at what’s happening in the bucolic Wisconsin countryside on this fine summer’s day.

Let’s see if the rally flops. We’ll be doing updates on any interesting developments.

It’s interesting how the term “counter culture” has changed. Back in the 60’s it meant love, peace, wearing flowers in one’s hair. In 2021 it means delusion, angst, and gathering together under the summer sky to fantasize that a resoundingly defeated presidential candidate is somehow going to turn out to be the winner of an election which is long over.

So there you have it, G7 today for those Americans grounded in the real world, the MAGA Frank rally for the rest.

  1. I get that flyovers are tricky. I know more about that kind of stuff than the average person. Still, it was a hoot watching them on the stage wondering where the hell the aircraft were! Maybe ole Mikey Pillow Brain somehow thought that Trump was paying for it. And of course Trump would never, even do so! So even if one had actually been contracted for (by actual, competent aviators) if it was a reputable and skilled enough group to pull one off I’d imagine payment was expected up front. No money, NO flyover.

But at least we all got a good laugh out of it.

And the crowd, or lack thereof? Priceless!

    • I wonder if a bigger crowd will show up for Trump’s jumbotron appearance? That’s supposed to be the big act of the night.

Maybe “the allies” might want to contend with the somewhat “local” versions of “Trumpism” that are in their proverbial backyards. For instance, Hungary is currently being run by a right-wing nationalist government that “has gradually undermined the rule of law in Hungary and established tight control over the country’s independent institutions… [it] has steadily rewritten the Hungarian constitution, and eliminated democratic safeguards statutorily embodied in the Constitutional Court, Prosecutors Office, Media Authority, and State Audit Office…,” according to a 2020 report by Freedom House. Additionally, the report included commentary indicating the government has “limited parliamentary oversight, independent media, non-governmental organizations and academics, while consolidating power around the central government.” Remind anyone else of what Trump and his cronies were trying to do here?

And then there’s Poland. Currently under the rule of the (ludicrously named) “Law and Justice Party,” the government has been turning more and more authoritarian since its founding (ironically, its earliest members included remnants of the old Solidarity movement). Government officials have recently criticized Biden for not meeting with them during his current trip (as well as criticizing Biden for not being tougher on Russia–criticism that wasn’t very prominent during Trump’s time). The government has sanctioned anti-LGBTQ policies (roughly 1/3 of the country claims to be “LGBT-ideology free zones,” making it impossible for local Pride events and making it incredibly difficult for LGBT individuals to fight discrimination and the Party has offered a “sympathetic ear” when not actually actively supporting such ideas–incumbent President Duda promised during his successful re-election bid to ban teaching about LGBT issues in schools and revising the Constitution to ban LGBT couples from adopting children) and several Party and government leaders and officials have been very vocal in anti-Muslim activities (the Parliament’s Deputy Speaker, in 2017, spoke at a Party rally claiming that if it hadn’t been for the Party, Muslims would’ve built mosques in Poland).

France, of course, has come INCREDIBLY close, on a couple of occasions, of electing a virtual neo-Nazi party and leader (Marine LePen’s National Rally, originally National Front) and Steve Bannon actually spoke at a party congress in 2018. Also, Germany and Italy have seen increases in far-right activities over the past several years, mostly with some Trumpian “nudge-nudge, wink-wink” support (the actual words aren’t public but they manage to sound the dog whistles to the “faithful”).

  3. Counter Culture today means a culture where it is ok in the slaver states and their adopted sisters to run down (murder) with your Buick or F150 people protesting murdering cops. Counter Culture means spitting on the legitimate rule of law in favor of fascist dictators. They are murderers. We have ignored this all along.

Why do you think the Teamsters got hooked up with the Mafia? They needed an army to protect them from the capitalist fascist thugs hired to kill labor protesters. Do you honestly think that King was killed by some dumb hick from Missouri? I could write a book on that, or maybe I could get Rachel to do a POD cast. The point is, these passive aggressive hicks in suites are far more dangerous and evil than Hitler and Lenin ever were. They aren’t now and never have been legitimate political opposition.

We tend to hold the Magna Carta in reverence as the first step toward democracy, and maybe it was, but it was really just a bunch of little thugs codifying their relationship with a big thug. In the formation of our own government, the states being given so much power was really just a sop to the privileged classes in each colony being allowed to keep their own little fiefdoms. It wasn’t so much a sop to slavers, but a sop to the rich from top to bottom. People that want to act like Blue states are good, blah, blah, blah better remember New York gave us Trump and California gave us Ronnie Ray Gun. Georgia gave us Carter and Arkansas gave us Clinton. Attitudes need adjusting in this country.

    • It may make sense to say California gave us Ronnie Ray Gun, since he was two-term Governor of CA before running for President (though in those days California was a lot less of a Blue State than they are now). But it doesn’t make any sense to parallel that with “New York gave us Trump.” True, Trump is very New York in a sense, but onlhy in that he is a quintessential New York asshole, just as every state has their own assholes. Trump never held any political office in New York, he was extremely disliked there long before 2016, and New York only grew more and more disgusted with him as president, and breathed a big sigh of relief when he was defeated.

  4. Let’s do a legit news article and then maybe you’ll be reliable. The air show still happened. Just not at that time & the 9 hours I spent there was far more valuable and amazing than any of these comments. Let’s do some research before spewing those far left lies.

    • Well, let’s get more specific then. Lindell promised a Military flyover did he not? The thing is, regulations are rather specific on the use of Military aircraft for such aerial demonstrations. They have to be authorized by the DOD and not just by some junior Officer either. Even for a funeral flyover! For a civilian event like an athletic event it takes some serious juice, not to mention money as DOD doesn’t do those things for free for civilian events. And for a political event a Military flyover simply isn’t allowed. So Lindell make a promise he couldn’t keep.

Now, that doesn’t mean he could pay a PRIVATE outfit to do one, and there are a few out there that have some vintage Military aircraft that could be used. Expensive but maybe not too much for Lindell. In some news reports I saw later on I learned that in fact eventually the private company’s aircraft did in fact show up – several hours AFTER the National Anthem which is when Lindell had promised they’d be there. I’ve already acknowledged that timing for such things is damned tricky – the logistics of communications an coordinating with the ground on when the anthem would start playing, while the aircraft were flying in a tight holding pattern the right distance away and getting lined up for their run over the event area AND in many cases having to ensure no interference with commercial aviation (not to mention any private airports taking and landing vectors) is a tall order. So as I said it’s tough. Especially for a civilian outfit that might not have the juice with civilian local aviation authorities to hold up air traffic for ten minutes or so. Given all that had they come overhead thirty seconds, or even a minute late I’d probably have snickered a bit but not gotten into commenting on it. Ok, I probably would have taken one shot at snark, and then forgotten about it.

But the flyover was several HOURS late!

Like a rally billed as one that would be thirty-thousand people strong and even being generous (from the pics and videos of the event) got at most one tenth of that (max 3k in attendance) it was a flop. And an awful lot left after Trump was done with his speechifying on the Jumbotron. Maybe it’s just me but in the videos of all those people leaving they didn’t seem all that amped up. I’ve seen a lot of people leaving old-school revivals that were visibly more excited with their experience. Maybe you personally were infused with MAGA energy. Maybe others were too. But come on! This was a far, far cry from what we’ve seen in the past. Sorry dude (well, not really) but the event was a flop. A minor league version of Tulsa.

  5. oh wow, the air show flopped! wow just wow! You really showed them Trumpers with this garbage article : “Flop Article about an Air show Flop”
