This makes perfect sense, like the moon following the sun and vice versa. Madison Cawthorn would have you know that he, exactly like his mentor and father figure Donald Trump, is also approached by regluur Amurikkkuns, just plain folks, who tell him all the time how he “gives them hope” as they collapse and sob at his feet. Do they call him Sir, we wonder, as they look up from the floor in awe and worship?
Madison Cawthorn says he visits Cracker Barrel and Waffle House when traveling to find “normal Americans,” and they tell him he gives them hope. pic.twitter.com/F85lfgPt01

If you’re having a strong deja vu moment, well of course you are. Here is what you are all too vividly recalling.
(And while I don’t approve of doctoring video, speeding this up makes it even more absurd.)
do big strong men with tears in their eyes come up and thank him ?

The only thing more powerful than these big strong men with tears in their eyes is the big strong electorate with votes to cast against the likes of Trump and Cawthorn.
Now I personally have never been to either a Cracker Barrel or a Waffle House and actually that makes sense now, not because I am an abnormal American, although that may be true as well, but because there aren’t that many where I am, or where I’ve been my entire life for that matter. Maybe westerners aren’t as “normal” as easterners?
At least Cracker Barrell has some distribution, but not very many locations, but glad to know there are normal people on California's Coast too. pic.twitter.com/sOsJRyo8al

As beloved as Cawthorn is in normal restaurants with normal Americans, he’s got problems at home in North Carolina. He may not make it to the ballot. He may be disqualified from running by the North Carolina Board of Elections invoking a post-Civil War insurrection clause, saying that anybody who engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States is barred from running for public office. Cawthorn warns the Board that this is going to be very dangerous to do. Dangerous how, Maddie? You’re going to stop punching trees and shooting at tin cans and act out on people?
“This is only going to lead to one place if you want to try and take the right of the people away to be able to vote for their elected official,” he [Cawthorn] said. “This is going down a very dangerous path.”
He claimed that former President Donald Trump would “never be able to be president again” if North Carolina officials can remove people from the ballot using the insurrection clause.
That part might actually be true. And wouldn’t it be a fine day when both Trump and Cawthorn are excised from the body politic in one surgical swipe?
While Mr Cawthorn was not a participant in the actual riot on 6 January, 2021, he expressed no regret for taking part in the rallies that spun off the violent attack on the Capitol.
“They are specifically arguing that I engaged in insurrection or incited some kind of violence here on January 6,” he said. “Now as you know, I was very proud to go speak at the Stop the Steal rally. I was very proud to debate on behalf of Wisconsin and try and block the electors in that state. And apparently that – even though it’s a constitutionally protected right for me to do that as a congressman from North Carolina – they’re saying that that disqualifies me.”
He told Mr Bannon he planned to fight the move to have his name taken off the state’s ballots.
“But unfortunately, we’re going to have to fight it, which is ridiculous,” Mr Cawthorn said. “We’ll probably go to the North Carolina Supreme Court and if they shockingly rule against us and they are actually just these liberal activists like we suspect they are then we’re probably going to have to take this case all the way to the United States Supreme Court and it’s going to be one hell of a ride.”
Another MAGA going to the Supreme Court. Get in line behind Mike Lindell.

I ate at Waffle House up in WV a few times. Kinda like a diner (not great, not bad) style breakfast. I only had breakfast there. As for Cracker Barrel I’ve eaten there maybe a half dozen times or so split between the midwest and out east. Again, nothing special about the food and the attached stores with their country style offerings of knick-knacks and snacks seemed overpriced for what one got just like the meals. At least Waffle House was fairly cheap. Don’t feel like you’ve missed anything because you haven’t.
I grew up & now live in NC. I’ve lived in California, Oregon, Florida, & Massachusetts. Don’t worry. There are ‘normal’ people everywhere. Unfortunately.
Maybe Maddie should check out Mickie D’s – they’re everywhere.
I used to eat at Waffle House, when I worked graveyard shift. We affectionately called it “awful waffle”. I refuse to eat at Cracker Barrell because they fired a worker for not having her appearance match their “family atmosphere”. As far as I know, she did excellent work, but was obviously gay. So, I don’t eat there or Chick Fil A.
Another Republithug tough guy who’s just a snowflake.
