Talk about efforts in futility. Oh, are we talking about Maria Corina Machado or Donald Trump? Good question. Machado is a sympathetic character. She may honestly be greasing the wheels in order to take over as president in Venezuela and help her people. That is putting the most favorable spin possible on the action she took at the White House today (and reported to Fox News) of giving her Nobel Peace Prize to Donald Trump (who eagerly grabbed it, we surmise.)

The Nobel Committee made it clear that the award cannot be transferred or shared. So Machado may do whatever she wishes with the medallion itself. It’s a piece of personal property. But she does not have the power to confer the honor upon Donald Trump that was conferred on her. It’s a bit pathetic that she is trying. But then again, she knows what we all know, which is that if Trump can be flattered and better yet, glazed, that all things are possible.

Machado wants to help her people and she’s hoping to be allowed to head the government. Can’t say as how I blame her. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

As for Trump accepting the prize, that is plain bizarre. But no more bizarre than him accepting a purple heart from a veteran. It’s the same principle, yes, Trump has one in his possession but he did not earn it. It’s a lot like him receiving an Oscar statuette from a winner. Yes, the winner could give Trump the physical award but that does not mean he’s a Best Actor. It means somebody who was Best Actor one year decided to give Trump the statuette.

Or, we could all play at that game. I want to be Miss Teenage America. Will one of the gals who has had that crown give it to me? Then I can be the first septuagenerian with that title. Except it wouldn’t really be the title, it would be me putting a tiara on my grey head.

Seems utterly asinine, does it not? But this is what Trump is doing and Machado is playing along with.

It is pathetic. Sad and pathetic. I feel sorry for Machado, so desperate that she greases Trump like this and for his part, he’s utterly ridiculous in accepting the physical award under these circumstances.

Sad, as Trump would say. Pathetic and sad. And what comes next? Hey, I got it: Greenland should give him some mock up of a trust deed of some sort. Why not?

  1. It’s just the same as everything else he has, nothing earned, all wheedled and grifted. Behavior to be expected of a guy born on home base who tells everyone he hit his own home run.

    • I’m going to finish your comment as it seems that it got cut off before you meant to post:

” . . . everyone he hit his own home run and was responsible for bringing in his three teammates already on the bases and, with that grand slam, winning the game in a spectacular come-from-behind victory.”

  2. I really don’t have any sympathy for Machado. She already was a known suck-up to Trump and Rubio before ahe even got the prize. This only confirms it.
