Another great mini-epic from the Lincoln Project. The two executions of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in the streets of Minneapolis are sobering. This never happened before in a pre-Trump world. Not precisely like this. We’ve certainly seen religious and racial executions. But we’ve never seen a body of officers, supposedly engaged in protecting the Homeland, summarily executing innocent Americans in the streets at point blank range.
The absolute immunity needs to be gone. The untrained and violent thugs in ICE have let power go to their heads and they’re trigger happy. The fact that Alex Pretti had a lawful concealed carry gun on him is being used against him. That’s sheer nonsense. He didn’t brandish the weapon at any time. Frame by Frame analysis of all the tapes bears that out.
Pretti did not deserve the handle “domestic terrorist” and Renee Good did not deserve being slandered as the woman who aimed her car at an officer when her wheels were turned away. Insult has been added to the untimely demise of them both.
I hope many more ads like this come out between now and November.
