If you’ll indulge me for a moment so that the rest makes sense. One of my all time favorite movies is Ruthless People with Danny DeVito, Bette Midler, Judge Reinhold, and Helen Slater. In the movie, Devito married Midler for her fathers money, but he didn’t die. Devito hates his wife. Slater and Reinhold kidnap Midler for ransom since DeVito stole Slaters idea for Spandex mini skirts.

They contact Devito, who keeps agreeing to pay, and then blowing them off, wanting them to kill his wife. They’re not killers, so they keep bartering down, until it finally comes to a head, Look pal! You told me if I didn’t pay by Thursday, the next time I saw my wife would be in the morgue! Well, I just came from the morgue, and she’s not there. Your problem is that you got no nuts! I dare ya, go ahead and kill her! And then he slams the phone down with a There! THAT oughta do it!

Danny DeVito’s Sam Stone is a near perfect parody of Traitor Tot. Both of them are loudmouthed, arrogant braggarts, Total losers who used fraud to make their fortunes, and who think that the rules don’t apply to them. After all, they’ve both beaten the system at every step so far.

Look at Trump’s history. For the last 5+ years now, he has not only thumbed his nose at the DOJ, he has rubbed their noses in his lawlessness. He used his tame lap poodle, Tubby the Ewok to totally neuter the Mueller investigation in his entanglements with Russia in the 2016 election. And he used the legal system as well as the political system to thumb his nose at congress through 2 impeachment trials. He not only survived these encounters, he thrived off of them by fundraising! And he used it to burnish his reputation as the outlaw winner.

And for the last 18+ months, he hasn’t just thumbed his nose at Merrick Garland and the DOJ, he keeps slapping them in the face and daring them to do something about it. The stupid shit has mistaken the DOJ’s deference to Trump’s former position as a sign of weakness. He feels untouchable.

Think about it. When the FBI executed their search warrant on Mar-A-Lago to get the stolen documents back, they went to great pains to conceal that fact. They were discreet, they dressed in plain clothes, and they restricted themselves to the search area. They never said a word about it. It was His owness who sent out a long rambling communique about the totally illegal, unauthorized, unnecessary assault on his personal space! And the communique ended with a cheap, craven plea for donations to his PAC. Trump actually fundraised off of his own home being raided! And in the next 72 hours, the use of the phrase Civil War exploded by more than 300% online from rabid Trump supporters.

Please note that Trump has never directly denied that he stole the documents. First he called them personal documents, not covered by the Presidential Records Act. And then he morphed to the specious claim of Executive Privilege, as presidential records, they belonged to him. Then he jumped the shark, and claimed that, by some magical alchemy he had declassified all of the documents, which made them his! Please ignore the fact that the classification is irrelevant to the proper ownership of the documents. And Trump continued to fundraise nonstop over the issue.

And then last weekend, The Trumpster Fire went all in. In a rally he came right out and handed Attorney General Merrick Garland a signed confession. He told the slobbering mob that he had Taken a small number of documents belonging to the government back to Mar-A-Lago with him. But they were guarded in a basement locker by his own security, as well as Secret Service agents, so it was no harm, no foul. He conveniently ignored the fact that being in possession of stolen documents doesn’t matter what security precautions were taken. And then Trump threw in one last direct slap in Garland’s face by demanding the immediate return of every document, because They were his!

Merrick Garland no longer has any choice, he must indict Trump. Garland has spent too much time publicly stating that no man is above the law. And every single statement that The Cheeto Prophet has made confirming his own complicity in the crime are statements admissible under law to be introduced at trial as admission of guilt. The more I analyze this stuff, I can only come to one conclusion.

Trump. Wants. To. Be. Indicted. Which begs the simple question, Why would any sane person want to be indicted? For Trump there are two reasons, and both are firmly placed in his past personal experience, and the results thereof.

  • First of all, if Trump is indicted, it allows him to yet one again run on, and defend himself as The martyr. And Trump has done that every step of his political life. In the 2016 GOP primaries, Trump swore that if he wasn’t the GOP nominee, it was because the system was rigged against him, making him the martyr. And fundraised like hell off of it
  • As President, Trump once again chose to take the roll of The Martyr, claiming that the entire Mueller investigation was nothing more or less than a Total Witch Hunt! And once again fundraised the hell out of it
  • And since the stolen documents case has arisen, once again it’s Trump who is the biggest mouth, and once again claiming himself to be The Martyr! His own legal team has taken to calling the issue a document storage dispute. But there’s really no dispute. the documents belong to the US government, and should be stored by them. But once again, Trump is fundraising his fat, orangutan ass off on it

For almost 6 long years now, Trump has used almost every single legal and political repercussion against him to paint himself as The Martyr. And he has fundraised literally hundreds of millions of dollars over his reputed martyrdom. But you know what? Trump has never suffered a single personal, professional, or legal repercussion for all of his bullshit.

Which leads us to the second reason that Trump wants to be indicted. As I stated in the last paragraph, Trump has enriched himself with his martyr status, and has suffered no consequences. And if Trump is actually indicted sometime after the election, that gives him the reason to play the ultimate martyr.  Shit, already Trump has been on the campaign trail, claiming that the DOJ/FBI investigation as a way to stifle him from running again in 2024. And if Trump is indicted, who else in the potentially crowded GOP field would want to have to go up against The Ultimate Martyr?

But here’s the thing. Because Trump has never had to pay a price for his gaslighting, he feels bulletproof. But what The Mango Messiah doesn’t realize is that actually being indicted by a federal grand jury is a whole different breed of cat.

The standing rule for any case to be prosecuted by the DOJ is that the prosecutor not only firmly believes that he can gain a prosecution, but that the conviction will stand up on appeal. And that’s just for a regular case. When you’re trying to take down a former President, your case is going to have to be bulletproof. Losing a case like that in court would be the ultimate humiliation.

This is what that stupid shit doesn’t understand. Trump’s ego is supreme. He is thinking along two linear lines, fundraising and political ambition for 2024. And nobody’s touched him yet. What could go wrong. This. The DOJ also has an ego, and they don’t like to lose. And if they indict Trump, then they have the goods to take it across the finish line. At this point, Garland has no choice but to indict Trump, his arrogance and own confession make it inevitable. And when he does, then a 2024 presidential run is going to be the last thing on Trump’s mind. Don’t touch that dial.

  1. It is my fervent hope to soon hear the first of two things I want to hear.
The first? A Bailiff announcing “The United States vs. Donald John Trump – Judge “xxx” presiding.”
The second? The judge having reviewed the verdict form(s) asking “Has the Jury reached a verdict? When the answer yes is given, the judge saying “How do you find?
And the Foreperson in a loud clear voice saying GUILTY!

    • There might just be an echo in that last line. If Im not mistaken, the jury g=has to announce the verdict separately for each count of each charge. No, I don’t exppect everything to be charged (at least not at one trial), but any group of related actions, even one single action, could be multiply charged.

  2. One huge advantage to an indictment, after arraignment, is that the judge can issue a gag order. Imagine TFG prohibited from speaking about his martyrdom. Schadenfreude.

    • No judge, in their right mind and not under dfg’s influence, would NOT issue a gag order on the orange loud mouth. He couldn’t speak, fundraise, nor be on “truth” social about it. Ahhhh, I cannot but hope…..

  3. Any half-decent poker player could spot Trump a mile away. Trump is bluffing, and he’s not very good at it. He has no hand to play and he is trying to back the DOJ down with a bluff so he doesn’t have his losing hand revealed to his brain-dead followers. And he also has an obvious tell. Whenever he is accused of a crime, he admits to it in public in order to essentially try the case in the court of public opinion as opposed to a court of law. See him for what he is and he’s completely transparent.

  4. At this point in the horror story of trump i am just numb & exasperated. WHEN ? How much longer ? I think it must be soon because the kids have gone off the map to make themselves as invisible as possible, apart from an occasional drunken scream from junior. So soon ? A Christmas gift to end all Christmas gifts – maybe ? Please !

    • It will be when Garland is ready. We just have to wait. All those i s to dot and t s to cross. It must be airtight and unable to be overturned on appeal.
