Leader Jeffries Already Mocking GOP ‘Issues’: Jokes and ‘Circus Is Coming to Town!’

Is there a more deserving group to have damned serious political problems in having a majority, one made up of serious kooks and some seriously unstable people (Gohmert, MTG), having just five votes, any old five votes, that keep the GOP from actually functioning as the majority that they barely are?

No, not when they ran on a program consisting primarily of “We need to investigate the investigators and get to the bottom of the Hunter Biden story, along with the FBI” etc. etc. That was essentially their platform. The rest of the platform hurt them even more severely, “We need a national ban on abortion… Need to block Biden’s programs…”

So they deserve to be mocked, and Leader Hakeem Jefferies feels more than comfortable showing the strength of his caucus by, well, leading in joking around at the follies on the other side. From Mediaite:

“Marjorie Taylor Greene is fighting with Lauren Boebert. And George Santos appears to be starring in the sequel to Catch Me If You Can.

In any normal situation, Santos would be expelled. But that would take the GOP down to just four votes as a majority.

“And it’s not even January 3rd.”

Which is when it gets real.

And then the hammer:

The circus has already come to town. Chaos, crisis. Confusion and craziness. Versus Democrats who deliver for the American people.

It may sound fairly innocuous, but that’s not exactly the way Democrats have behaved for 20 years. Can you picture Nancy Pelosi saying such a thing? No. But you can imagine the GOP saying such things about Democrats bc they did so each day. There is no “right” way to go about things. I would never say Pelosi was too “soft” – she knew what she was doing. But bringing in Jeffries to throw the GOP off their game a bit?

Very interesting.

  1. You don’t bring a pamphlet on manners to a knife fight with fascists. Nancy deserves a statue honoring her service during the fascist takeover by trump, McConnell, and Roberts. She was strong and skillful. Now that the ignorant voters have handed the house back to the corrupt, the fight will escalate & we need someone with the stomach for it. Jeffries needs to continue speaking truth. He seems like the person for the job.

    • Extremely well said. Agree 100%.

I said there is no one right way. Pelosi wouldn’t do it that way. She’d kneecap them with a policy thing or a very serious comment.

Jefferies is speaking language MAGAs understand and he’s telegraphing that he’s not afraid of them.

  2. As Bowie once sang, “watch that man.” The man in this case being Jefferies, who is already showing off how good of a Pelosi disciple he truly is. I look for a LOT of surprises from him and his team in the coming year.

For that reason, everyone can miss me with any of the usual “Dems are wimps” cants. As a party, they haven’t been this unified since the 1970s. And the power struggles of the Republican party will leave them broken for some time to come.

  3. Call me a sadist, but I am hoping the GOP caucus degenerates to the poin (“Republicans in rupture?) where some sane person reaches across the aisle … and liz Cheney’s name comes up. (Ys, she’s the daughter of the devil. But she’s proven that she values democracy, can be civil, and won’t stand for stunts.)
