The dominos are starting to fall. It’s only Wednesday but already many dramatic developments have taken place since early Monday morning when Donald Trump’s lawyers visited the Department of Justice and left, grim faced. The Independent has just published a report, which is already being characterized as “bombshell” which reports that Mark Meadows “will plead guilty to several federal charges as part of a deal for which he has already received limited immunity in exchange for his testimony.”

This has long been predicted. If you are a regular reader of this blog, many is the time it’s been said here that “Mark Meadows is not going to go to prison for Donald Trump.” We are now here today, friends, to see the verity of what was once a prediction. We make no claims to being psychic here, only to be able to connect the dots and this set of dots has been screaming indictment for some time.

Mr. Meadows has already given evidence before the grand jury and is said to be cooperating with the investigation into his former boss. […]

Trump is expected to be indicted shortly under a portion of the Espionage Act and make no mistake, Meadows has contributed to this.

Ted Lieu tweeted on Tuesday:

“Mark Meadows had three options: 1. Take the Fifth Amendment. 2. Voluntarily cooperate. 3. Cooperate because he was given immunity or a plea deal. Based on the public reporting, it appears he did 2 or 3 above. This makes it more likely Donald Trump will be indicted, again.”

Along with espionage, it goes without saying that obstruction of justice is on the table.

“The Department of Justice is preparing to ask a Washington, DC grand jury to indict former president Donald Trump for violating the Espionage Act and for obstruction of justice as soon as Thursday.”

“The Independent has learned that prosecutors are ready to ask grand jurors to approve an indictment against Mr. Trump for violating a portion of the US criminal code known as Section 793, which prohibits ‘gathering, transmitting or losing’ any ‘information respecting the national defence.’”

In early June, former Nixon White House Counsel remarked, “Meadows has a really good lawyer, a former deputy AG, who could guide him through cooperation and a minimal plea deal of some sort.”

That attorney, George Terwilliger, played coy when asked about his client’s possible grand jury testimony. Terwilliger told The New York Times in an article published late Tuesday, “Without commenting on whether or not Mr. Meadows has testified before the grand jury or in any other proceeding, Mr. Meadows has maintained a commitment to tell the truth where he has a legal obligation to do so.”

Former Deputy Asst. Attorney General Harry Litman on Tuesday said, “I’ve already observed Terwilliger’s skill in representing Meadows. But if he got him an immunity deal–as opposed to a guilty plea + promise to cooperate deal–he is a wizard. [Would] think that Meadows is way too culpable to merit a pass, but if Smith [couldn’t] make case w/o him…”

Trumpty apparently knows that the indictment is imminent but is playing coy himself.

Lots of luck with that ABA report, Donald. Let us know how that’s working out for you.

  1. He’s such a twit! The statement is “formally declassify” as in following procedures, which of course is not what DJT does. Secondly, the presidential records act does NOT give him free reign and ownership of documents, like he seems to think it does.

    • Your comments are based in fact and reason. His comments are based in desperation and hysteria. The man HAS to know the jig is up, unless all his lawyers are committing malpractice and leading him to believe that everything is just fine.

I hope he does get indicted tomorrow. I can’t wait. I’m counting the minutes.

    • The man is a coward. If you recall Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony, she was alarmed when Trump wouldn’t leave the White House and Meadows said, “Maybe we won’t have to leave.” So Meadows knew (or certainly suspected) what was up with Trump and he was fine with it, apparently.

  2. In Cathy Hutchinson’s transcripts, she described meadows burning documents frequently after meetings between December and January 6th. She said it could be over a dozen times!!!!!!! He needs his nuts in a vise to come clean. Nicole Wallace just reported it on MSNBC.

    • What is intriguing about this entire Trump phenomenon is how many Republicans are alllll too happy to embrace fascism. Meadows was just fine burning documents, I’m sure. He would have done anything to stay in power along with Trump. Screw his oath to the Constitution and screw democracy. That’s the big message we have gotten from the Reign of Trump.
