Where do these people get these bizarre ideas? This is one of the lamest and outlandish things that I’ve heard. It’s so far out I’m surprised we can still see it. There are two unrelated occurrences being combined to make someone look good or generate empathy. One of these people doesn’t deserve sympathy. With gratefulness to Raw Story:
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent asserted on NBC on Sunday morning that those who were offended by Donald Trump’s universally reviled Truth Social post about the death of former FBI Director Robert Mueller should approach the controversy from the president’s point of view. “Meet the Press” host Kristin Welker kicked off the conversation by reading Trump’s posts where he wrote, “Robert Mueller just died. Good. I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people,” and then pressed, “Do you think it’s appropriate for the president of the United States to celebrate the death of an American citizen; someone who’s a Bronze Star, Purple Heart Kristen and who served in Vietnam?”
Bessent seems to think Trump is the light of the world, so we have to empathize with him. None of us wants to try to share his feefees. It would feel like swimming through a sewer. Only Murf, here on Pz, can really extrapolate what’s going on in Trump’s head. Bessent seems to think it can be done easily and quickly. Yuck.
The nonplussed Bessent replied, ”Kristen, I was with the president in the green room at Davos, and there was a video playing of what may have been an illegal raid on his home at Mar-a-Lago,” and then recalled, “They are going through his wife’s wardrobe. And I watched the look in his eye, and I think that neither one of us can understand what has been done to the president and to his family.”
Now we shouldn’t try to empathize? Deranged Donnie is playing the FBI raid video when in Davos. How? Did he bring his own viewer? I had thought that Europe had a different region and we couldn’t play our CDs, DVDs, and so forth on their equipment. Plus, why on *earth* was he playing that while he was overseas? That’s a little out there even for Trump. Or Bessent could be lying. That would NOT be a surprise.
Welker was quick to point out that Mueller had nothing to do with the court-approved raid looking for stolen government documents stored at the Florida resort, including in a bathroom. Bessent, as he is known to do, cut off the host and talked over her, asserting, “I think that given what has been done to President Trump and his family, it is impossible for either of us to understand what he has been through.” Pressed further by Welker, the billionaire Trump appointee complained, “I think that we should all have a little empathy for what has been done to him and his family.”
Nope. Not for Trump. The FBI could not have conducted the raid without a signed warrant. From the pictures we saw, it was a damn good thing they did. He could not declassify everything he had, including documents that are supposed to be viewed only in a SCIF. He had no business keeping those documents. And now Bessent wants us to put ourselves in Donnie’s shoes so we can understand “what they went through”. Hooey. What a crock. Sorry, not sorry, Scottie. Go talk to MAGA.
See you tomorrow!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

He was given several chances to surrender the documents, including NOT TAKING THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. This kind of tripe really makes me mad. (can you tell?)
That is exactly the point. He didn’t do what he should. So they did what he should have done. When that started up, and they showed us a picture of some of the top secret documents, the Dumba$$ Donnie started whining and he had NO legitimate reason to complain. He tried for a pity party and it didn’t go well. I’m more than happy that they went and got them back, even with Loose Cannon’s nonsense.
Bessent’s full of crap. Drumpf was at Ivana’s resting place (though in more comfortable quarters) when that raid took place; reportedly, he was watching the whole thing via closed-circuit television. And it had absolutely NOTHING to do with Mueller; it was ALL about Drumpf’s ILLEGAL THEFT of government property.
Welker should’ve done a better job, even if it meant screaming at Bessent to stop his bullcrap and answer her question about the propriety. And when he blathered that nonsense about how Drumpf’s family deserves some “empathy,” she should’ve turned it back on him saying, “Like the empathy Drumpf showed to Mueller’s family or the families of the hundreds or thousands who’ve been torn apart by his illegal rounding up of CITIZENS or the families of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, the people MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD by HIS ICE agents in Minneapolis? Is that the ’empathy’ you want for Drumpf and his family who’ve suffered very little REAL hardship?” If I’d been her, I would’ve told the crew to cut the feed because my next words are NOT going to be fit for broadcast and proceeded to unload some definite four-letter words in his direction.
Why do you think I saved Bessent for late night? He has no clue what he’s talking about. We have no sympathy for him, nor will we EVER. Welker dropped the ball on that one, especially since he was fumbling for words. That could have really been something. And yes, words you don’t say on live TV. Many of them.
So sick of all the whining, and the whiners. I can’t wait till we can start locking up these @holes and throwing away the key. And this time, let’s get it done! No foot dragging, no tap dancing around it. These people are a menace to democracy and imagine where we could be today if the powers that be had taken seriously what needed to be done and done it, damn it!
My imagination and my wish would be “in a much better place than we are now”. Hey MAGA, still want Trump? You can take him back ANY TIME NOW.
