It’s amazing what it is to live in an information silo. Lara Trump is a *goddess* of the right — as long as she’s on her perch at Fox News. She knows damn well that in a general election, particularly a statewide one, that she’ll be a laughingstock, not a venerated figure. No, the veneration only exists in a closed loop, very strict right-wing information siloed environment and unfortunately, Lara can’t take that on the campaign trail.
Roy Cooper announced he was running for Thom Tillis’s now-available Senate seat in North Carolina. Speculation ran high that Lara would run and she promised she would “give an answer by November.” She gave it today, most probably in response to Cooper’s announcement of yesterday that he would be seeking the seat.
“Lara Trump is the rare person to have passed on trying for Senate seats in two different states within a few months (she took herself out of consideration for appointment to Rubio’s former seat in Florida just in December),” noted CNN’s Edward-Isaac Dovere.
She made the announcement on X where she said, “While I am not running in this election, my passion for Making America Great Again burns brightly, and I look forward to the future, wherever that leads.”
Politico reported Thursday that RNC Chair and long-time Trump ally, Michael Whatley, will announce he will seek the seat instead.
“If you Senate as well as you sing you should be losing that election in no time!” mocked filmmaker Jeremy Newberger, referring to her second career as a recording artist.
“No Lara Trump in NC. Good,” wrote John Robinson, a former editor for the News and Record in North Carolina.
Lara’s like the small town beauty queen, asked if she’s going to attempt to go onto the big pageants. She’s not, because she knows she’s only hot stuff in her small, narrow world. That’s Lara to a tee. She’s got her show on Fox News and she reigns over that, but that isn’t going to translate into a Senate seat.
But what’s really intriguing here is that the fear is obvious. Lara Trump may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but she has to be aware that her father-in-law is falling on his rotund ass these days. The Trump name is going to get rotten tomatoes launched her way, either figuratively or literally, and she’s not up for it.
Makes you wonder why Eric doesn’t run? After all, Eric was predicting a Trump dynasty a few months ago. Lara’s obviously the *brains* in that family.
Oh, well, we lost some good comedic moments. Who knows who will be Cooper’s GOP opposition to the Senate from North Carolina but at least it won’t be a Trump. Let’s give thanks for small favors.
Lara’s time is not long. I predict her show will be gone when her father-in-law is and her relevancy along with it. MAGA will continue in some kind of a bastardized form, that’s certain, but the Trumps are on their way out. Any *president* in Trump’s position, i.e., second term, is on the way out by definition. But the Epstein debacle has paved the way for Trump to not only be out but out and disgraced — and by his own hand. That’s the sheer irony of this.

Well, Tom Petty is part of ‘The Night Shift’ (love that Commodore’s song) but Springsteen is still with us. And he’s on our side of things. Dare we hope he does a spoof as in ‘Born To NOT Run’ that goads her into the race? As a transplanted Carolinian my ears wince (even the right one that I lost hearing in!) at the thought of dealing with news clips of her screeching attempts at singing on the campaign trail, but it would be worth enduring to see her get her ass (including butt implants) handed to her on election night.
