Ooops, puppy murderer. It looks like the death of Alex Pretti, seventeen days after the fatal shooting of Renee Good, was the bridge too far. At least for Chuck Grassley and the Senate Judiciary Committe. A day of reckoning is set for Kristi Noem in March, where she will testify and senators will have ten minutes to question her. And this will be after Tom Homan goes to Minneapolis to take over the reins of ICE and “report directly to me,” says Donald Trump. The Hill:

The confirmation comes amid fresh scrutiny of Noem’s handling of her post after federal officials fatally shot Renee Good and Alex Pretti, both 37-year-old Minneapolis residents, during demonstrations against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations just this month.

The top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, ranking member Dick Durbin (Ill.), nodded to the growing calls for Noem’s impeachment, in a statement responding to Grassley’s announcement of her upcoming testimony.

“Secretary Noem refused to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee last year and now tells us that she will be available in five weeks—should she still be DHS [Department of Homeland Security] Secretary at that time,” Durbin said in a statement.

“Should she still be the DHS Secretary at that time.” Ohh, mamma. That does not sound promising. But then again, bookies in Vegas have been saying for some time that Noem has moved to the front of the pack of cabinet members who could potentially be gone by the end of this year. Pete Hegseth held that position for quite some time, but Petey has been quiet and in the shadows lately, while Noem has two unaccounted for murders that she needs to explain on March 3.

“With all of the violence and deaths involving DHS, the Secretary is apparently in no hurry to account for her mismanagement of this national crisis. And she expects us to rubber stamp her record-breaking budget in the meantime,” he continued.

The testimony is not tethered to the latest backlash Noem is facing, but she undoubtedly will face questions from senators seeking information about the fatal shootings and the aggressive immigration enforcement operations taking place in Minneapolis and around the country.

Noem’s going to have to account for two fatal shootings and it won’t be softball time like on the Sunday news shows. Mark this date on your calendar.

And bear in mind, Noem is making Trump look bad at this point. Maybe Trump will persuade Noem that it’s time to spend more time with her family, ya think?

  1. Ahem, there have been far more than “two shootings” – many brown and black people have been executed by ICE just this past month. But, shooting WHITE PEOPLE, is the only thing that gets our attention? I’m a white guy and I find it sadly unsurprising that only white people’s deaths get officially counted in news reports like this.

  2. white people are now experiencing what non-white people have been experiencing for the last 250 years and suddenly realise what could happen. However, there are many states where they have no knowledge of what has been happening until it hit mainstream media
