She’s just not able to meet this one. She spins *everything* but can’t spin this well enough to get it to go away in any shape, form, or fashion. Her re-directs are so obvious to us that we laugh and move along to wait for the next bullshizzle try. But not this time. From AlterNet:
As disdainful as she is of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Salon’s Amanda Marcotte acknowledges that Leavitt does her job well — a job Marcotte describes as “chief gaslighter of the nation.” Leavitt, according to Marcotte, is a master of spin and deception. But in an article published on September 12, Marcotte argues that with the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, Leavitt is facing a controversy that she can’t spin. “Leavitt consistently contradicts reality with ease — it’s a skill that would cause mental collapse in a person with a conscience,” Marcotte explains.
Mental collapse, indeed. The Epstein information makes me twitch, and I’m only seeing what I read in the news. I’m not anywhere close to it. And from the little we know at this point, what’s there that we *don’t* know? Probably things that are a whole lot worse. And Trump *has* to be in them for 1,000 FBI agents to look through and redact him. How many pieces were just pulled from the files that we won’t ever know about? Remember that? Because I certainly do.
But as hard as Leavitt tried to “ignore the obvious,” Marcotte writes, this is one scandal that isn’t going away — no matter how much Leavitt tries to spin new developments. “Leavitt’s efforts to maneuver her way around the implications of the check photo were slick enough, but undermined by two important points,” Marcotte stresses. “First, the president’s public attitudes about women are in keeping with the misogyny behind Pashcow’s attempt at humor. Then, there are the experiences of at least three women who felt victimized in the world inhabited by Trump’s close friend, Epstein, and those in his orbit.
Try, try, and try again. Even with the Charlie Kirk debacle going on, this still isn’t going to go away, no matter how much the left and the right pontificate about it, and Kirk was a personal friend of Trump’s. I don’t think the news services are going to forget about it. So the Kirk thing will go on for a while and fade away, just like the Luigi Mangione did in the killing of a healthcare CEO. She’ll try to spin that in Trump’s favor, too. But Epstein? No. It can’t be done.
When Karoline Leavitt gets behind the podium in the Brady Briefing Room and excuses, lies or otherwise deflects inquiry into Trump’s association with Epstein, she’s contributing to a system that allows women and girls to be abused every day without consequence.” Marcotte adds, “It’s why her unblinking shamelessness is so unnerving. On some level, no matter what she tells herself at night, she is participating in the cover-up of details related to a reported sex trafficking ring. How does she even begin to sleep?”
I have no idea. I don’t understand this woman. She gets up there and does the same things Trump does – lie and spin and deflect (see: Trump pivoting to the ballroom going up when asked about Kirk). She does this so casually, as if she’s speaking the truth, when we know she isn’t. But it doesn’t matter. We know it’s not the truth. And fortunately, that’s a mark in our favor. She’s creepy.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. Well, if YOUR guy hadn’t made such a big deal about “releasing all the files” last year, maybe the whole thing would’ve been forgotten about.
Apparently, even some of YOUR guy’s most devoted followers aren’t going to be placated with YOUR guy’s “nothing to see here” BS and continued efforts to change the subject.
But since YOU seem to have no problems with pedophiles going unpunished, well, that says more about YOU than any comment you could ever post here.
