Lawd have mercy. This woman is something else, and there are no ideas where that something is. And her reactions before Trump’s speech are totally out there. She’s just as bad as Trump with the attacks. Unfortunately, can’t recall it has happened to anyone else. Gotta do something about this memory. Sheesh. With respect for Raw Story:

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s aggressive browbeating of reporters before Donald Trump’s Thursday night address has spectacularly backfired, with a former Trump State Department official tearing apart her credibility in a scathing column. Matthew Bartlett, who held a Trump-appointed position at the State Department, condemned Leavitt’s Thursday comments to journalists who tried to ask her substantive questions about the president’s planned remarks.

She’s gotten upset before, but this takes the cake. They were asked about the speech by Trump. Is there a list of policy plays, an update on the war, an update about the economy, things that could be asked by us, and that we have a right to know? We’re Americans, and our president is supposed to lead us. He hasn’t. Instead, he’s screwed us up six ways from Sunday. He screws us while he grifts a lot of money. (Side note- He’s supposedly a billionaire now instead of a millionaire. Doesn’t that make you feel good? …. Me neither.)

As Bartlett describes it, Leavitt condescendingly lectured them on “honesty and integrity” and demanded they wait to hear Trump’s speech before forming a conclusion. “I think that everyone should tune in tonight,” Leavitt snapped, “including the people in this room, and you should report on the president’s speech and the findings that he is going to reveal in the speech with a little bit of honesty and a little bit of integrity because it will shock you if you have an honest eye listening to the president tonight.

Yea no. Last *we* heard, it was absolutely awful and included almost no new information. Darn, wanted to hear about Trump’s Pond. Boooo. Someone ought to give us some information about what’s going on with Trump’s vanity projects. We haven’t seen anything more about the ballroom. Hmmm. But Trump is never honest. He has no integrity. He ran for president to stay out of jail. Once he got elected, he has done nothing for the country and everything for himself. The war with Iran is completely its own disaster. Honest, my arse!!

Bartlett argued it was “shocking” indeed — but there was one problem. “Leavitt said earlier that the speech would be shocking,” he wrote. “True, but not in the way she meant. While the president’s goal may have been to destroy faith in our elections, it may have succeeded in destroying whatever faith there is in the president.” Bartlett then commented on his own lack of shock at the speech — and threw both Trump’s and Leavitt’s credibility into doubt.

A seemingly tired president appeared to struggle to read the speech, which aides had previewed as a ‘potpourri‘ of topics, but was more accurately a mishmash of MAGA buzzwords,” Bartlett wrote. “There were no charges announced. No arrests made. Nothing that would refute the simple fact that Joe Biden won the 2020 election. The election of 2020 remains as controversial as the sky being blue and water being wet.”

Trump was teasing with quotes before his speech tonight. Sounds like those were throwaways since he didn’t particularly say anything about them. And they were said by a tired ‘president’ who rambled off script and didn’t say anything worth hearing and nothing helpful for Republicans. But he is the ‘president,’ so people have to listen. It would be interesting to find out the number of people who watched this abomniable show. I’m guessing the press and MAGA suffered through it. The way he rambles around to whatever thing has suddenly caught his attention in his brain will then erupt completely off topic. It would be both suffering and anger, because he could not stay with his script. We’re lucky if anything understandable comes out of his mouth, but with the potential for a conspiracy theory rant. He loves those. Kudos to everybody who made it through the whole thing.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
