It may be time once again to toss Brian Kilmeade around a bit – it has been a while. He can reliably take some “interesting” positions on matters that deserve a second or third look – maybe a laugh, maybe a shake of the head. Today he took issue with former Transportation Secretary and permanently gay man Pete Buttigieg. Kilmeade set about to inform Fox viewers regarding several things that never happened and one or two that are debatable. We can be certain of at least one thing, Kilmeade is ready to go to the mat in support of the “I am against Pete Buttigieg” movement. Kilmeade’s commitment to the cause is such that Steve Doocy may be shaking his head right alongside us.

How Fox and Friends found the Buttigieg angle in today’s news is beyond the topic of discussion but – per almost always, their concerns center around the fact that Buttigieg is a gay man. This truth persists despite the fact that it doesn’t seem like Pete considers his life centered around the fact that he’s a gay man. Be that as it may, Kilmeade focused on another possible Buttigieg candidacy, whether for president or the school board, as JoeMyGod reports on the following conversation:

BRIAN KILMEADE (CO-HOST): I would say this — he made his first big move, took his pronouns off his profile.

LAWRENCE JONES (CO-HOST): It’s about time.

AINSLEY EARHARDT (CO-HOST): Did he?

STEVE DOOCY (CO-HOST): That is the first thing you look at on a profile?

It is worth pausing in bemusement that Steve Doocy now sits in a position that might be called the “Foxkeptic.” He often sounds content to just bring some mischief to the show. It is hard not to chuckle at Steve’s unceasing wonder as to Kilmeade’s obsessions – here with all things gay or “DEI-implicating.”

KILMEADE: It is noticeable when you live to — when your whole agenda is “I’m gay,” that was his big selling point, and “accept me.” And people did and he put his pronouns up there. When that guy takes his pronouns off, I think it’s big news.

It is probably best to give Kilmeade the benefit of the doubt and trust that “big news” is relative and evaluated in context, perhaps as measured against someone refusing to take pronouns off of a profile, versus a story about leaving NATO or something.

EARHARDT: Well wait a minute, does that mean he really wants to keep his pronouns on but he’s taking them off so he can run?

KILMEADE: I think this, Ainsley — America has moved past, DEI, pronouns, cancel culture, and that’s the latest example. And I just think that Pete Buttigieg was failed mayor, failed transportation secretary, he’s doing his best when he’s not doing anything, that’s when he’s at his best. And now he goes, “I have an idea, let me run for presidency so I can fail at three things.”

Confusion reins until we get an example of a spectacularly successful Transportation Secretary! Until then, we’re supposed to believe that Mayor Pete’s whole agenda had been “I’m gay, accept me” but has transitioned to “I am running for president [maybe of the school board]  and thus my ‘he-him’ pronouns must come down as unacceptable.”

It is best to get back to evaluating things in context because it may well be true that Americans have moved past DEI and pronouns but that’s measured against issues like the “Do. Not. Invade. Canada!” agenda, the “What happened to my 401K!” questions – all present even while under the dark umbrella of  “Waffle House egg tariffs.” It is tough to maintain focus. But since Pete never seemed to focus on “I’m gay” he likely won’t find himself lost or distracted.

Oh, and it may be relevant to add that, according to JoeMyGod, Buttigieg never had pronouns on his X-bio. No problem, that shouldn’t be the first thing you look for anyway.

  1. So, did Kilmeade never put pronouns on its profile? (I’m using “it” because that pronoun is neutral and I would *NEVER* wish to insult someone by using “incorrect” pronouns by which it may wish to identify itself. But I digress . . . .)
I would think Kilmeade’s preferred pronouns would be “A-hole/F-wad/Jag-off” since those do seem to best describe Braindead Brian.
