“And the kingdom was lost, for want of a nail,” says a famous proverb, which Ben Franklin considered so sage that he included it in his almanac. That phrase comes to mind today as Donald Trump faces the potential wrath of Judge Arthur Engoron, who ordered Trump on October 3 to remove a disparaging tweet about his court clerk, which referred to her as “Chuck Schumer’s girlfriend.” Trump did not. And the irony here is that while Trump’s lawyers are doing everything to keep him from behind bars, a simple unattended to social media post, could be what puts Trump in the slammer. The post stayed up for 17 days and was flagged yesterday by Meidas Touch. Letitia James’ office got wind of it and informed the judge. And the judge, unsurprisingly, is hopping mad. The Messenger:
The Daily Beast reported that New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office alerted the judge to the campaign’s since-removed webpage, and in an article titled “Trump Is About to Be Ripped to Shreds by NYC Bank Fraud Trial Judge,” the news outlet quoted sources expecting Engoron to react strongly.
Those predictions bore out on Friday, at least rhetorically. Engoron gave Trump’s defense team an opportunity to explain what happened, and the attorney general’s office declined to make any statements in open court.
But the judge was clearly furious. The target of Trump’s post, Greenfield, sat beside Engoron, who noted that in this “current overheated climate,” messages like the one the former president posted could lead, and has led, to “serious physical harm and worse.”
After Trump’s lawyers provided their account of what transpired, Engoron and Greenfield whispered to each other and left the development on a cliffhanger. Engoron said he would take the matter “under advisement.”
Two thoughts: a lot of times judges take a matter under advisement if to rule on it at that moment would cause a commotion. And it will cause a commotion when and if Judge Engoron says that Trump has to go to jail for violating a gag order. Or, the other reason a judge takes a matter under advisement is to genuinely study it and figure out a course of action. Either one of these could be the reason Engoron didn’t do something right that moment. Although I have to say, Engoron strikes me as somebody who is not afraid of a showdown once he’s made his views clear.
While Trump’s team immediately deleted the Truth Social post, they never bothered to take down the one on the former president’s website, DonaldJTrump.com. The court apparently didn’t notice that until Ron Filipkowski at the liberal website MeidasTouch wrote about it on Thursday, sparking a notification to attorneys on both sides.
A spokeswoman for the AG’s office declined to provide a comment. Trump’s lead attorney, Alina Habba, did not respond to a request for comment. The post was taken down late Thursday night. The webpage is now blank with a 404 error on display that reads, “The page you were looking for does not exist.”
The truth is that any other defendant pushing a judge like this would already be in jail.
The post about Engoron's law clerk remained on Trump's website; it was deleted from Truth Social. Trump's campaign also emailed it to millions.
Engoron said it included the kind of inflammatory rhetoric that "in some cases already has led to serious physical harm and worse."

Trump was making money off of the post. That’s why it was left up. It was part of his political martyr, persecuted-like-Jesus pitch, which gets him money. I hope the judge decides to throw the book at him but maybe Judge Engoron has a better idea.
My wife cheated on me in a no fault state. I had a 2y/o that I spent thousands of dollars, hours, and tears adopting as an infant. I had a 5 y/o that was the result of 3 1/2 years of the same to have her through a donor program. I was a professional as was my wife. I gave her the house which was in my name and ten years into the mortgage. I did it to keep her from moving my kids out of state. I had already been through hell and back when I lost my job. When I appeared in court with a job interview lined up for the next day, I was put in contempt and led out in handcuffs and LEG IRONS!!! That’s your justice system for you. Equal my ass. This mofo has broken every goddamn law there is and given every judge the finger. YET HE ISNT IN JAIL. Anyone who actually believes in this ‘justice’ system is already a cult member. I’m sure he’ll be put on double secret probation. FACT.

In my thoughts for this sham of a pretend president, I consider Trump guilty of MASS MURDERS, as by the time he got any thing really done for our Citizens, around a MILLION of us died from Covid19 …
For a guy more worried about his numbers then the million Citizens that died, those that did will never be home again for family’s Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, never to play with the grandkids or even their OWN kids, and YET he STILL blabs off on mikes in front of the Court Room where the Judges/AG’s have the POWER to pull the plug on ANY of the BS with signed documents and hand the pink slip to a couple of Marshalls to help/carry/drag garbage mouth out to a van with bullet proof windows and bars across doors and windows, for his joy ride to our holding cells or prison proper …
It HAS TO HAPPEN, or Trump will continue to broadcast his poison to the most unstable MOB in our country … And once installed under lock and key, he should be required to wear his bright orange garb to Court, lest anyone, even Trump should forget how tenuous his freedom really is … It might even inspire others to tell the Court in clear recalled moments, what kind of a fool and failure Trump has been …
