No, I don’t know how politics in this country came to be stranger and funnier than any satirical show you see on the telly. I do suspect that it was an eventual landing place that we would get to when we had the reality TV game show host descend the escalator, to the cheers of paid extras. We didn’t realize that day what a bad omen all that was. And like any Monday morning quarterback, what good does it do now to understand? Terrible thing that, Mike. Yep. Oh you were talking about Uncle Joe and his autopens? Yes, of course you were. You’re coming up on breaking the record for a government showdown, emergency measures are in place to feed families on SNAP, the ACA subsidies are ready to expire and go bust, the military families are going to food banks, it’s a bloody miracle that we haven’t had more plane crashes and/or delayes with TSA workers going unpaid, so on and so forth — but the AUTOpen is the egregious issue that you had to bring up today.
And how long will it be before this Congress decides to acknowledge that it’s in charge and act like it? The faux horror at Biden’s “mess” lasted maybe sixty days, that’s about it. We’re now coming up on a year of Trump back in office, just a few short months from now.
Stop blaming Biden and look in the mirrors, guys. Complaining about autopens isn’t going to get you your seats in 2026. Fixing the bloody mess you’ve created might.
First they’d have to take responsibility, but they’re republicans, so they only take credit.
