Where is King Donald today, anybody know? I was just wondering, because we still see Truth Social posts and now the king is AWOL. Is he out playing golf, maybe? Did Susie Wiles drug him, because she feared more racist memes against Hakeem Jeffries? We know Trump was not at the presser today at the White House, where he by rights should have been, explaining to the American people why their government was shut down and when it might be up and running again. That’s what presidents usually do with shutdowns, but not kings, apparently.

JD Vance is irrelevant to the current crisis, but yet here was Vance telling reporters:

They tried to turn on two separate provisions that would give healthcare benefits to illegal aliens. Number one, if you’re an American citizens, you’ve been to a hospital in the last few years, you probably noticed that wait times are especially large and very often somebody who’s there in the emergency room waiting is an illegal alien.
Very often a person who can’t even speak English. Why do those people get healthcare benefits at hospitals paid for by American citizens? The answer is a decision made by the Biden administration that the Trump administration working with Congressional Republicans undid. We turned off that money spigot to healthcare funding for illegal aliens.
The Democrats in their legislative techs wanna turn it back on.

The Republican lie that JD Vance was pushing is easily disproven by the text of the Democratic CR as filed in the US Senate.
Sec. 104 of the legislation states:
SEC. 104. Except as otherwise provided in section 24 102, no appropriation or funds made available or authority granted pursuant to section 101 shall be used to initiate or resume any project or activity for which appropriations, funds, or other authority were not available during fiscal year 2025.
In layman’s terms, that funding resumes for all programs for which funding was appropriated in 2025. The legislation can’t add anything new. There was no funding appropriated for illegal immigrants to get healthcare in 2025, because such funding would be a violation of federal law and illegal.
If you read the section of the CR on the ACA subsidies, there is no mention of healthcare for non-citizens. It doesn’t exist. The Republicans have made it up.
Donald Trump has no qualms with defending imaginary things in the past, so it isn’t as if he suddenly is standing by the cherry tree and refusing to tell a lie.
The answer for Trump’s absence is that he thinks that if he stays hidden, he won’t be blamed for the government shutdown. He seems happy to send his vice president in front of the cameras to take all of the blame, and then he will swoop in if an agreement is struck to take credit.
That sounds spot on. Now take a look at this landmark video, which has played on mainstream media. Johnson misspoke himself and his defense of this will be amusing.

Dean is right, Trump is unhinged. And maybe Johnson didn’t know this exchange was being taped or maybe he just didn’t care. Naturally, his kneejerk response would be “both sides do it.” Although the fact of the matter is that nobody on the left comes anywhere near as whacked out or corrupt as Trump, and few people on the right are as bad as he is, as well. The only person who even fights back in the same coin is Gavin Newsom and he’s not being “unhinged” he’s fighting fire with fire.
But Johnson spoke another truth here, in this short 25 second clip. He said, “I don’t control him.” Nobody controls Trump and Trump is out of control. That’s the problem. And our allies are looking elsewhere and our enemies are laughing. That is a statement of fact. And I don’t believe Johnson didn’t see any of the generals’ address footage. He was just dodging bullets, which is what he does, between lying and defending Trump’s indefensible positions and clownishness.
Let’s see what happens next but for the moment the Speaker of the House has publicly admitted that the president is “unhinged” and said president is nowhere to be found — and this isn’t just any day, folks, the U.S. government is in a statement of shutdown. Should we worry?
