Vance is going to have some explaining to do about this one. This plays out as pure racism — or pure stupidity, and neither one is a handle that you want to have. Vance forgot (or never knew) that Senator Padilla’s given name is Alexander, Alex for short. So Vance re-christened the man “Jose” because all these brown guys are named Jose or Jesus or something, right? What’s next J.D., a Frito Bandito hat?

So Vance not only gets the senator’s name wrong, he disparages him by saying that Padilla only appears in public for theatrical reasons. I see no point in Vance taking this tack. Trump picked him because he can talk the MAGA tough guy talk, yes. And Vance intends to succeed Trump as the inheritor to the MAGA throne. Maybe. But does Vance really want to be seen as this kind of a person for the rest of his political career?
I can understand aping Trump’s excesses to get rolling in politics. And that worked. But he intends to continue this way? Very probably. There’s an old adage, “Begin as you intend to proceed,” and we see how Vance has begun. I guess this is how he intends to proceed for the next thirty years.
Vance is a total boor. But there is a bright side to this: Democratic ad makers (are you listening, Lincoln Project?) should pick this one up and run with it. Stat.

Just Dumb Vance embarrasses himself even more because he SERVED WITH Senator Padilla the entire time that he was in the Senate before Drumpf picked him to be a #2–I mean, his #2. And Vance is proving himself to be little more than Drumpf’s nasty little sh*tstain.
