Great conflagrations start out from small sparks. There was the shot heard round the world and the firing of the first cannon ball at Ft. Sumpter, and now we have, possibly, the tweet that blew up the GOP.

Donald Trump didn’t stoop to any name calling today, he just stated that Mitch McConnell isn’t in charge. We’re sure that that’s news to McConnell.

Never thought the day would arrive when you’d be rooting for Mitch McConnell, right? But here we are and as I’ve said many times before, my money’s on the turtle. I think Trump is in heavy self destruct mode right now and it’s stupid to out macho McConnell.

This is not the smartest thing to do nine months before the midterm election.

  1. McConnell plays the long game. He’s been in politics a lot longer than TFG. I’m sure he has more functioning brain cells, as well. TFG makes great sound and fury signifying nothing. I keep thinking eventually his supporters will just go away. Maybe that will happen when he’s incarcerated.

    • McConnell’s long game has gotten extremely short. Ever since he broke his shoulder three years ago, something changed with him. He’s no longer the Iron Chancellor of the GOP Senate that he once was. Otherwise, he’d have already finished off Trump. Now the two of them, weakened by their respective setbacks, are in for a long, drawn-out struggle that looks to hurt both further…GOOD.

  2. Tricky mitch can talk out both sides of his mouth. That’s how he gets the dumb racists to vote for him in Kentucky, & against their own interests. Frump only knows how to talk out his ass. Point. Set. Match. The turtle wins.

    • McConnell has done nothing to earn the dishonor of Richard Milhouse Nixon’s most infamous nickname. He’s just a politician who stayed too long at the fair…long enough for his shoulder to break and his power along with it.

      • He’s done a hell of a lot to earn any type of nickname u want that implies he’s corrupt & has time & again screwed us all. These wonderful fascist rulings of the Supreme Court can be laid directly at his feet. U must have missed his ongoing evil & his corrupt misuse of power. By the way I had a front row seat from Kennedy til now, & I doubt u are anything close to my age. To imply McConnell is more innocent is counting the hairs on a gnats ass. Tricky? U bet ur sweet ass he is. Oh, & his evil has lifetime appointments.

        • Never said I was your age. Kind of like I never said McConnell had never done harm. By that low bar you’ve set of screwing us over time and time again with lifetime appointments (Uncle Joe dwarfing that number by many magnitudes already), every Republican in office deserves the Tricky nickname. Does that sound right to you?

          • Sure. Joe hasnt put a rapist on the Supreme Court or stonewalled garland for a year using a fake argument, then put a kid from the federalist list on it in the middle of voting. Mitch has done a hell of a lot more than that. U do remember Obama & dirty Mitch’s record of stonewalling. He’s also killed thousands by denying healthcare etc., at every turn of the road. Not to mention he’s a racist & as the father of black children, that’s enough for me to wish him a dirt nap sooner than later. We’re not really disagreeing. They’re both evil. Thre one positive I can say about Nixon is he is already dead. Oh &January 6th doesn’t happen if mitch lived up to the oaths he took & had ACTUAL trials in the senate on TWO impeachments. Maybe frump would have survived but the republican party wouldn’t have turned into a murderous cult without mitch propping that human waste up at every turn. To say “he’s done nothing to deserve the dishonor” of nixon’s nickname is implying he’s been honorable. Not on ur life is that true.

  3. On the bright side, if TFG keeps the turtle from regaining the majority, Yertle will probably retire. I think the KY legislature passed a law last yr saying the gov, in the case of a resignation, had to appoint a sen from the same party as the retiree. KY currently has a dem gov who is up for reelection in 2023. Why would Yertle support this legislation, if he wasn’t at least contemplating retirement before the end of his term in 2024?

  4. So it begins, the moment that I have been told repeatedly would never EVER happen. Having lived among these people my whole life, I knew better. The moment that Trump was declared loser in 2020, THIS WAS INEVITABLE.

Too many people have had the wrong image of the GOP in their heads, the well-oiled machine that was built from the wreckage of the Nixon presidency. But that oil hasn’t been changed in at least five years, probably closer to ten. The only future any of them ever got ready for was the one involving permanent residence in a cemetery. That is why no one in this Republican civil war will win, regardless of who’s standing at the end. Well, except for Liz Cheney.

  5. I think the world would be a better place if McConnell & the orange idiot were both gone . The Republican party has gone to hell in a handcart , they need to clean up their party.
