Donald Trump is reportedly chilling out at Mar-a-Lago, not too worried, because he feels that this acquittal is in the bag, even more solidly than the first one. He’s totally removed from it all, waiting for his Republican enablers to bail him out — again. But here’s the catch: as compelling as the Ukraine testimony was, it can’t hold a candle to this. Not even a match.

That is the size of it. Any Republican who can vote to acquit Trump on these facts needs to go through the rest of their political careers — hopefully brief ones — with this footage and their “no” vote hung around their necks, like a bell.

It goes without saying that this has brought back haunting memories.

As stated above, if/when the GOP senators vote “no” they should go through the rest of their political careers with their no-vote linked to this footage. This should be the GOP’s epitaph.

And as for Donald Trump, he needs to learn that life is not a TV show.

  1. I think Castor is going to be out of favour – he referred to the Trompador mostly as ‘the former president’

And somebody needs to explain to him that Athens didn’t have a ‘senate’ – they had the Pnyx which was an assembly of ALL citizens – not a selective body

    • I forgot to mention that in a comment on another article where I pointed out his b.s. about the founders making the Bill of Rights amendments in order of importance. The short version is it’s not true. Various issues were raised by some states that led them to push for a Bill of Rights because the language of the main body of the Constitution in their view required some specific language. So that list was used, starting at the beginning of the Constitution to draft the proposed set of amendments for the Bill of Rights. Which was a longer list than wound up being ratified btw! Those amendments were never meant to be taken as a list in order of importance. Their number is simply where the issue came up in a front to back reading of the Constitution.

  2. I couldn’t watch that. Anyone who votes to acquit is the scum of the Earth and an anti-patriotic enemy of America who should have their American Flag pin confiscated. I don’t know if this comment will appear because sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t and it always takes a long time so I have to go away for an hour or two to wait and see. That combined with the slowness of the site loading now (and the fact that it now does that annoying DailyKos thing of cycling through all your comments when you go backward instead of returning you to the main page like it used to) make using this site really frustrating and difficult.

  3. All Americans (except those who participated and would only puff out their puny chests with pride) need to see this footage. All of it. Perhaps it would strip them of their rose-colored glasses, once and for all. And perhaps not. But good god, something has to be done.
