We’re all aware of the time outs that unruly children get, some more than others. Now, it turns out, a time out is being contemplated for a certain unruly child housed in a 77-year-old body. The child simply cannot or will not respond to financial punishment. So far two punishments have been handed out, one for $5,000 and another for $10,000. But the child has so much money, that sanctions of that level are like a fly buzzing about, a minor nuisance, no more.

So what is the next step to stop this outrageous behavior? The child in question cannot stop from 1) running out the courtroom and thereby creating a commotion and impeding the wheels of justice; 2) venting his emotions in wild rhetorical riffs, replete with innuendo about violence, on social media; 3) openly encouraging his followers to believe that the judges and court staff are his enemies and therefore bad people, involved in a quote unquote “witch hunt.” In light of the fact that in the past couple of years, one judge’s husband was shot to death when opening the door to the family home and another judge was shot dead in his driveway, these things are not to be taken lightly. So now it’s being thought that a time out for Donald Trump, being placed in a holding cell for just a few hours, might wake him up. And it might — dig this — even constitute yet another criminal trial, in and of itself. Trial seven? Yep.

If this commentator is right, Judge Chutkan will start out with a fine, as has Judge Engoron. Twice, now, for all the good that it does.

Now what’s interesting is that even Trump’s lawyers are worried that he might find his a$$ headed for the House Of Many Doors. Here’s “Perry Mason in a dress,” to quote Donald Trump, discussing the issue on Newsmax.

This is sheer gaslighting. But, that’s what makes money for right-wing media. I am wondering if the Trump trials are not the new Dominion and Smartmatic suits, meaning that Fox News had to pay $787 million in damages. Maybe Newsmax, what’s left of OAN, and RSBN are going to end up in the same hen house that Fox News got caught in, and it will cost them bigly.

If you can stand it, here’s Trump doing Jailhouse Rock.

Not bad, image wise. They should have had J.L. Cauvin do the vocals. His Trump impersonation is so spot on as to be scary.

It is conceivable that the lies which are being broadcast night and day about Trump’s trials could motivate one or many MAGAs to go batshit and then when they do, what would be Newsmax’s defense? That they’re like Sidney Powell and no reasonable person could take them seriously? It didn’t work so well for Powell, although Tucker Carlson did alright with it back in the day as a defense in court when Fox News was sued before. Maybe that’s how this is going to go down.

One thing is for certain: no good can come from 1/3 of the nation, or more, believing that reality is one way and the actual legal truth of how things are, is something else altogether different. On its face, that is a recipe for complete disaster. We saw that on January 6, 2021, I wonder if we’re not going to see something similar the day that Trump gets convicted. There’s only so far that you can take a lie, without it exploding. We’ve already found that out.

Consider the words of Oliver Wendell Holmes: “Sin has many tools, but a lie is the handle which fits them all.” Trump is a consummate liar, so are his lawyers and so is right-wing media. I don’t know how democracy survives in a biosphere of lies like this. I guess we’re going to find out.

  1. LOCK. HIM. UP. NOW! And if any of his cult members commit (or threaten to commit) any violent acts, lock them up too, for at least 10-20 years. Or better yet, send them to Gitmo with the rest of the terrorists!

  2. A few hours? Oh no. Not nearly enough. He is endangering the lives of people working in the court system, FBI, and potential jurors. Lock his ass up until the sentences are issued for the various trials.

    A few hours-what a bunch of b.s.

  3. Some of us of a certain age will remember a courtroom skit from one of Cheech and Chong’s first albums. The laugh line was “Bailiff, whack his pee pee!”

If only. But that would be wrong.

  4. Well, having been a guest of the state a couple times just a couple hours isn’t going to do the trick. You are going to need to drop him overnight. I would say over a weekend but that probably wouldn’t work. But haul his ass out of the courtroom at about 4:00 or so. Go with the couple hours story but say judge has to sign his ass out. And well the judge has inadvertently gone home for the evening and is not to be disturbed. It’s that realization that you ain’t going anywhere and ain’t nobody gonna unlock that cell door to let your loser ass out. In my honest opinion it’s something everyone should experience at least once. It puts a whole different perspective on what freedom means. A lot of people don’t understand what the word means. When it gets down to you waiting for some people to walk out of some offices and get in their cars so they can go about their lives. Donald has lived his life without fear of being locked up. I guarantee he should spend the rest of his miserable life behind bars. The man is a walking crime wave that dates back to the seventies.
