Here is yet another story that is moving faster than a hummingbird’s wings, as Dan Rather is wont to say. Steve Bannon’s criminal contempt trial began this week and it looks like it’s going to wind up very quickly. A major development just occurred. Bannon’s lawyers are not offering a defense — because there literally is none.
Here is what has happened so far today and where it’s going.
Such motions are common. And this argument was expected. Jury is not in room yet.

Yeah… trial is gonna resume. Judge Carl Nichols “reserves judgment” on Bannon motion for acquittal.

Now here is the part I love. Bannon, the loquacious pugilist, if ever there was one, the orator from Hell, is not going to address the jury.
Bannon will NOT speak to the jury. No witnesses on his behalf. No evidence. No exhibits. Just a closing statement from defense lawyer

Bannon could serve up to two years. Maybe he will. Maybe some justice will finally be done with respect to somebody in the most corrupt presidential administration in our history.
I can’t wait to see how this is decided. Bannon was vowing to “go medieval” on the January 6 Committee just a few days ago. He’s always copped the attitude, like John Bolton, of being the smartest guy in the room, no matter where he is. Maybe this is his comeuppance. I don’t want to get my hopes up, because I’ve seen so many crooks walk in Trump world but maybe this time will be different.
He knows he’s lost…again. He’s going down for two years and then the Feds will add to that with new charges. Not much can prevent that outcome now.
You have to be careful w/ smell and Bannon in same sentence. He just looks unwashed. I thought the attorneys would at least make an effort to say they were trying to negotiate w/ J6 cmte, but apparently not. Probably because of all the stupid pronouncements Bannon made on his podcast about how he was never going to appear and daring them to make him. I hope the judge gives him the maximun. After his pardon, he really thought he was teflon. Well, teflon does wear down. Giving him the max would also help the DOJ convince him to testify truthfully to a grand jury about the seditious conspiracy for some consideration.
The defense attorneys offer no defense because one does not exist for this flaming a-hole.
