This is just getting ridiculous. I want to ask a question of anybody who is, or has been married, or in a committed long term relationship. Did you ever do or say something really stupid, and for months, if not years, your spouse never let you forget it, no matter how hard you tried to erase it?
Well, get ready for the GOP looking glass version of the same thing. Only in this case, it’s the GOP who was the moron husband who did something terrifically stupid, only now it’s the GOP husband who is going to keep bringing up the amazing stupidity, on an aomost daily bases, while he tries to explain why it wasn’t stupidity in the first place.
Allow me to explain. This morning, GOP House Speaker wannabe Kreepy Kevin McCarthy sent J6 committee Chair Bennie Thompson a respectful multi page letter, asking him to retain all records and documents once the committee shuts down at the end of the year. He wants the records retained because once the GOP takes over the House in January, they’re going to run their own investigation into the Capitol riot, and its origins.
If you’re not too firmly tethered to reality, there is a kind of method to McCarthy’s madness. And here it is. Apparently there is a 20-30 member faction of the GOP caucus that is screaming for the GOP House to empanel their own Select Committee on January 5th, and use it to whitewash the legitimate findings of the current committee, and make anybody other than Traitor Tot responsible for the debacle. McCarthy sent the letter to Thompson to shine up his street creds with the MAGAt caucus in the House that he’s on their side. Which is suicidal for the GOP.
There is linkage here. From the first televised public hearing put on by the committee, His Lowness was busy shattering every piece of porcelain or glassware within easy reach at Mar-A-Lago. He was furious that there were no pro Trump bomb throwers on the panel, ready to defend him. And he blamed his pet idiot, Kreepy Kevin McCarthy for letting him down.
But it wasn’t McCarthy’s fault. Speaker Pelosi gave the GOP 4 spots on the committee, and McCarthy nominated them. But Pelosi wasn’t letting Trump turn the committee into a Roman circus. She accepted 2 moderate GOP members, but booted Jim Jordan and Andy Biggs. In outrage McCarthy pulled everybody off the field, and Pelosi got Cheney and Kinzinger to come aboard instead.
Believe the stupidity or not, this is the entire premise of McCarthy threatening to hold his own J6 select committee. It is so politically stupid that it can’t even be defended, but its only purpose is to let the 3 time loser in Mar-A-Lago lick his nuts while his brainless sycophants put the blame for J6 where it really belongs, on Nancy Pelosi, the Capitol police, Antifa and BLM. That’s all this is about, soothing Trumpenstein’s savaged feelings.
What do I keep saying? You never get a second chance to make a first impression. The televised J6 committee hearings were devastating to both Trump and the GOP, and I can prove it, using the same moron who now wants to send it into reruns. For the last 2 years, Kevin McCarthy has desperately tried to act as if this was all just a Democratic hoax, it never happened, and even if it did, it was legitimate political discourse. And now he want’s to give it legitimacy, in order to try to put his own spin on it. And it won’t work. The last poll I saw showed that 62% of Americans held Trump either solely, or largely responsible for the Capitol riot.
And now McCarthy and the House mental midgets want to do something that even the Democrats never really considered doing, rubbing the American peoples noses in it for the next 2 years. And you’ll get a pretty good idea of how its going early. The GOP doesn’t want to investigate, they want a spectacle. And so, they want as many public televised hearings as possible, starting as soon as possible, so they can prove their fealty to The Cheeto Prophet. But the fact filled, slickly produced, made-for-tv J6 hearings exceeded every viewing expectation. Just keep an eye on the ratings, how many Americans want to watch 4-5 house of rabid, slobbering Trumplets screaming at poor non combatant witnesses. My guess is that The Animal Channel does better.
Look gang, unless he’s already convicted, Trump is running in 2024. He has spent the last 2 years trying to get out from under the shadow of J6. And now, when his campaign is kicking into gear, his own GOP House J6 committee is going to keep sparing it around like a dog marking his territory. And it’s not just going to give Joe Biden open season to hammer Trump over the head with the Capitol riot, it allows every Democratic candidate in 2024 the chance to hammer their opponent over the head with the Capitol riot. This kind of stupidity can’t be taught or inherited, it is truly a gift from God.
Oh, you left out the best part, Murf: McCarthy isn’t even Speaker yet and there’s an excellent chance he never will be. I expect Thompson to hand him a polite FU and turn all records over to the Senate and DOJ.
It’s better than that. Thompson & Cheney have stated the Committee will be releasing everything publicly. Testimony, supporting documents etc. While there will be a small amount held back (i.e. classified information, or that which reveals Secret Service or even some LE stuff regarding security procedures) virtually the whole shebang will be in the public domain. And, as you say ALL of it will be turned over to DOJ. If it gets handed over to the Senate (probably the Judiciary Committee) so much the better.
After te DOJ is done with it … the National Archives might be a good home for it.

The records are worthless to the Trumphumpers if they’re available to the public and already turned over to the DOJ. It will be hard for them to say ‘it was {Pelosi/Antifa/BLM/FBI agents dressed up as Trumphumpers}’ when every legit journalist and random member of the public can say ‘Bullshit’ and show the documents that refute their claims.
