There’s a meme going around Twitter that “America takes an IQ test on November 5” and I am now starting to believe that’s how basic it gets. The choice in presidential tickets this year is between two lying, lunatic mad men and two devoted statespeople of considerable experience. Donald Trump is back in Michigan. He took stage 90 minutes late, heavily bronzed like a statue. I have seen statues in museums with this kind of skin tone, being made of copper and bronze alloys and such but never a human being, before this specimen. And he started right in, on Tampon Tim and how in the state of Minnesota it’s legal to murder babies. Puh-leeze. Is it conceivable that people are so stupid that they believe this drivel?
Trump pushes his disgusting, misogynist lie that moms in Minnesota and other blue states can legally murder their babies after they're born. Sick shit. pic.twitter.com/rtNWwmYn2S

Now before we go any further, let me remind you that this is supposed to be an “economic” speech. A strategic decision was made when Joe Biden dropped out that Trump would become policy centered and give speeches on designated topics that would be decided in advance. So this is how the economic speech is going.
Trump’s speech on the economy: Alphonse Capone, who was quite well known in Chicago.. He liked killing people, but he had nothing like me. pic.twitter.com/KmgSTg4SuX

Not sure what that has to do with the economy of the nation. Maybe this one will be better. Shall we try?
Trump claims "the polls are rigged," then in the next breath complains that he's no longer running against Biden pic.twitter.com/PTCLBu6cem

Rigged polls and Biden had no right to drop out, Trumpty didn’t want him to. No economic vision there, just the usual bitching and moaning. But we are stalwart warriors here, we’ll keep listening to these insane clips in the hope that he might talk about a gumball machine or anything which could be construed as pertaining to money, wages, business, anything that could be linked to the notion of “economy.”
Trump says that he has been treated worse than any president in history and suggests the assassination attempt against him was the fruit of a conspiracy pic.twitter.com/hWhY75biRu
— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) August 29, 2024
Now he’s just rambling off script jumping around from San Francisco to the assassination to being the Catskills comic, “I don’t give a damn.” Neither do the voters, Donald. That’s your problem. You’ve got your MAGA base and other than that, you’re toast.
Fox News taps out of taking Trump's speech live pic.twitter.com/Thjr4GJEer
— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) August 29, 2024
And Fox News bails. “Hammering Kamala Harris on the economy.” Glad you heard it, Judge Jeanine. Maybe you could share candidate Trump’s hard hitting, factual beatdown of Harris on the economy since the rest of us are still waiting to hear word one on the topic.
And this is going to get more concerning as time goes on. Trump is literally promising one thing and delivering something else. He is supposed to be speaking on the economy and not doing a stand up compendium of grievances.
Trump: Nobody knows who Harris is. What's the VP's name? They have no idea what the name is. Now, the name Kamala is. It's a little complex because it's about 19 different ways of pronouncing it. But Kamala is, at least it's a name you sort of remember. pic.twitter.com/YiEOjrHjZz
— Acyn (@Acyn) August 29, 2024
Now this is pure wish casting on Trump’s part that nobody knows who Harris is. And still no mention of the economy. Now this next one is just flat out pathetic. He’s begging the audience for love.
Trump: I make a speech, I speak for two hours. Everybody loves it. I got thousands of people, by the way, outside trying to get in. I never— they never said Trump's a great speaker. I don't even want that. But I must be a great speaker, right? pic.twitter.com/HGMDnRCDL6

This is full blown Norma Desmond. Of course you’re a star, my dear. We’re making a movie, right here on the staircase. Just walk right down as we film you. JFC. As quintessentially pathetic as Trump is, even I didn’t think he would get this maudlin and ridiculous.
I’m going to end on this note. There’s not going to be anything on the economy. There’s going to be a pathetic, over the hill old man, trying to recapture past glory. The GOP may end up losing a lot down ballot because of this. And they richly deserve to lose their shirts for backing a total loser like this. I have zero sympathy for the Republicans because this isn’t about Democrats v. Republicans, this is about the GOP throwing any values or honor they may have once possessed down the drain in the hope that this fool can make lightning strike twice in the same place. The only people more lost than Trump and MAGA are the complicit cowards in the GOP.

R is still the party of moral values, only the values now are lying, cheating, grifting, fraud, and whining.
Trump is “losing more” than the 2024 Election! His mind is FRIED!
He can’t do it anymore. A lot of people have been saying this for a long time now. His old schtick doesn’t work anymore. it’s not 2016. He’s not something new and untried. He’s yesterday’s trainwreck.
Spot on with Norma Desmond! All he’s got is his “wonderful people out there in the dark.” Yup. Sums up his followers quite well. Dark people in the dark.
The ‘I and me’ looks heavily bronzed because he’s coated himself in some sort of ‘anti-fouling come anti-rust’ chemical, to protect himself from reality: delivered by the one’s he both refuses to see, and can’t, accept as legitimate: the ‘we and you’ – they are the one’s who’ll turn Trump into a rusting heap of a historically stinking fouled memory, come November.
God I look forward to it. I can’t tell you how much.
Must be the “true coat” 🙂
When you’re begging your audience for compliments on your speech while you’re giving it, you probably should stop speaking altogether. I have never seen such pathetic, embarrassing behavior in public…I’m not sure ever and I’ve seen some crazy-ass people walking the streets screaming at all and sundry.
Again I ask that family of his: haven’t you been shamed enough?
I couldn’t even begin thinking about watching any of the videos but did any of them swing around to get the audience’s reactions? Or to show that there *was* an actual audience?
It seems weird that Trump is speaking in front of nothing and no one. Usually the videos of his speeches show him with some of his audience behind him–or at least a few people standing behind him, looking like they’re getting ready to be walked in for a police lineup. But this set of videos? He’s in front of some kind of rigging (almost like high school bleachers in a gym that can be retracted when the whole gym needs to be used).
