Jumping off Ursula’s Column
Expect some cursing, y’all, because I am absolutely infuriated by this! WHY in the HELL did the staff of the Times think this was a worthy choice for person of the year??!! I think it should be ASSHOLE of the year! He has done NOTHING that makes him even worth this accolade! Was someone getting paid off? Are they too wimpy to go toe-to-toe with him? Are they afraid of his threats of retribution? I can’t even count how many times he said FAKE media, and don’t forget “if an assassin hits one of them while shooting at him (meaning tRump, of course) he’d be fine because we have too much media” i.e. too much media that won’t bow down and kiss his ass?
Yea yea yea assassination attempt, blah blah fight. It would have been fun if that was staged but I’m sure anything that hurts tRumpy dRumpy more than it did, it would have been played up much, much more than it was. Frankly, for as small as a wound it was, it was played up enough. We know what the truth is, but since the Tangerine Palpatine lives in a fantasy land, why the hell can’t WE live there? On the other hand, don’t answer that, because I think it’s a much darker world and he would be outfitted with wings and a halo because he is the Savior to “Make America Great Again”. I’d puke every time I actually saw him so let’s just stay with our fucked up but still has rays of light world as it is for the world right now. We’d better enjoy it because on January 20th, he gets sworn in, and it begins.
There are so FUCKING MANY more people deserving of this, like, say, ohhhhhh Kamala Harris? You can look at everything she accomplished even though she didn’t win the presidential race. She achieved So. DAMN. Much. in 100 days, but we have to have a rapist, convicted felon, ketchup’s highest stockholder, slanderous, asshole, I’ve run out of patience with this list because if I don’t stop now, I’ll bore you with many many many more descriptions until my fingers were cramped. How about Joe Biden? The man acknowledged he needed to step down, well, after it was shoved in his face, but he could still have resisted all the calls for him to leave the race. Even with Kamala’s loss, he still did the right thing. He’s trying to have as smooth a transition for the Presidency as possible. He’s getting *viciously* backstabbed by the Orange Orangutan. Except, Biden is fading into the background of tRump’s posturing and talking out his ass. Gotta say he’s good at that. I didn’t know his ass was so talented. I didn’t want to know that because the image that this description just put into my head now won’t leave, and I need to scrub my brain with a wire brush and bleach. Ewwwww, dammit! Remember it’s all about the Blame Game. REALLY???????
How about we spank the Mango Messiah and send him to sit in time out for awhile – as in, a couple of years? Wait. No. Touching him means I would have to scrub my hands with bleach. I’ll just let Putin spank him.
tRump is making enemies of our neighbors. Biden did not. Trump is threatening to pull us out of the Paris Climate Accords (again), and NATO (again), and, and, and. That’s NOT something else that makes this made-up orange jerk worthy of Time Person of the Year.
WHAT the FUCK is wrong with this picture???!!!!!

the United States government and courts are wimpy & greedy what more can we say?
Salesforce owns Time magazine that’s why
Well, if it’s any consolation, just remember that Time has also put the likes of Joseph Stalin (twice–1939, 1942), Adolf Hitler (1938), the Ayatollah Khomeini (1979), Newt Gingrich (1995) and Vladimir Putin (2007) in that grouping.
Also, for what it’s worth, EVERY person who’s been named the winner of the presidential election since 2000 has been declared “Person of the Year” for that year. Previously, simply winning the election wasn’t enough. Eisenhower was named twice but neither coincided with an election (the first was in 1944 while he was Supreme Allied Commander in Europe and the second was in 1959, less than a year before another election). Nixon’s first appearance was in 1971 (largely due to getting off the gold standard and reopening relations with the PRC) but his second appearance was in 1972 coinciding with the election results. JFK didn’t get named until 1961, in part because of his inauguration but also the Bay of Pigs invasion. Carter and Reagan both got the honor for the election (1976 and 1980) but Reagan was named again in 1983 (for the “heroic” invasion of Grenada and the SDI) while Peter Ueberroth was honored in 1984 (for the Olympics). George H W Bush didn’t get honored until 1990 (and that was mainly due to Operation Desert Shield). Even Clinton’s second appearance didn’t happen until 1998 and that was basically because of the Lewinsky scandal and impeachment.
What’s really more surprising is that Time picked him after his blatant lie about why he didn’t get named Person of the Year in 2017. Trump claimed on Twitter that he’d been told by the editors of Time that he would “probably” be Person of the Year if he agreed to a photo shoot and interview but he “refused” (yeah–like Trump would ever refuse any chance to get free publicity, especially as he didn’t claim the interview was going to be a “hit piece” on him).
Thank you for the information! I hadn’t known some of that! Still screaming, though 😉
too much media that won’t bow down and kiss his ass? OR too much media that won’t bow down and kiss his ass! There, fixed it for you.
Ya’ll need to relax and stop melting down over meaningless things. Trumps not even in office yet and you’re already screaming at the sky over something he didn’t even *do*. You’re gonna give yourself a heart attack.
I believe Time has said on more than one occasion the the Person of the Year is not chosen for being good. It’s closer to the person who has had the most influence – for good, or for bad.. It’s not an endorsement. That certainly applied to Stalin, and it’s pretty clear it applies to Trump**.
