Let the games begin!

According to recent media reports, it looks like Traitor Tot is finally going to have some company on the campaign trail, as well as competition for media air time and campaign donations. And he isn’t taking it well either. He’s already run to his halfwit platform, Bullshit Social to shovel shit over all and sundry.

If current reporting is accurate, here’s the current lie of the land. Within two weeks former South Carolina Governor and Trump UN Ambassador Nikki Haley will throw her bonnet in the ring. The very next day, The Invisible Man of the Senate, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott will join the mosh pit.

I must digress for a brief moment. As I’ve written, sometimes you can determine why a no-shot, hardly known political personality enters a presidential race. With Democrat Eric Swalwell, he had a signature issue, gun control that he wanted to push monolithically, so after he was gone, he had made it important enough for the party writ large to have to deal with. For Andrew Yang it was Universal Guaranteed Income, and he even pitched in some of his own billions to show how it worked. And for Tim Ryan, it was to build a national donor network, as well as statewide name recognition for his 2022 Senate run.

But freakin’ Tim Scott?! Nobody outside of South Carolina even knows who the hell he is, and I’m betting that about 1/3 of South Carolinians couldn’t pick him out of a Dating Game lineup. He has no passionate signature issues, even in the rarified air of the Senate he has the footprint of a sandpiper, and on the national scene you’d need an MRI to find his impression. Other than trying to pick up Herman Cain’s mantle, I cannot figure out his angle.

A little quick math. And I promise, it will be quick and simple, because I can’t do math any other way. According to recent deep dive polling and analysis, Traitor Tot has a rock solid base of about 28% Which is not good news for His Lowness, since it’s already 5% lower than his 2016 primary base of 33%, which he rode to the nomination in an insanely fractured field. Which means that there is a GOP constituency of 72% out there who either don’t like Trump, or do but are willing to look elsewhere.

More simple math. With a 72% cushion, that means that there’s room in the field for two sane, moderate GOP candidates to split the 72%m leaving Trump in the caboose until he quits, and then duke it out. For sane GOP presidential candidates, the issue isn’t appealing to Trump’s base, you’re never going to get those. The object is to start attracting some of the moderate GOP voters and independents that Trump scared off in the first place. If they can woo those voters back, they can leave FrankenTrump in the dust.

The wild card here is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and he can only hurt Trump. Remember, there is a bloc of voters who love Trump, but they hate the baggage. In a matchup against a Haley, a Pence, or a Pimpeo, they’re firmly in Trump’s camp. But if a smoother, more polished insaniac like Pissantis shows up, he could pull some of that soft support from The Orange Julius. But because DeSantis is so obviously Trumpy, he isn’t going to garner much from the moderates and independents.

So now, how do you beat The Trumpster Fire in the primaries. Two ways. First, keep the field small! Don’t repeat the debacle of 2016, where The Cheeto Prophet was able to ride 33% of the primary vote to sweeps of the early GOP winner-take-all states while nobody else was over 10%. If two opponents can remain close, the further in you go, the more pressure it puts on Hair Twitler, and we all know how he reacts to pressure.

The second is equally simple. There is a current train of thought out there that to beat Trump, you ignore him. That’s just plain stupid. You can’t ignore Trump, he’s like the weather, he’s omnipresent. What you do is to ignore his bullshit, and then savage him with positions and plans.

Remember, if you’re a Haley or Pence, the object isn’t Trump’s base, that’s already lost to you. Ignore his slander, insults and bullshit, and respond with basic conservative plans and principles that speak to the moderates and independents that you’re looking to attract. Trump is a one-trick-pony, and his debate spiel is geared exclusively to his 28% base of mouth breathers and bed wetters. Fuck ’em, you’re not going to get them anyway. Shoot for the national moderate base tuned into the debates.

But here’s the secret sauce. In every statement and response, you have to savage Trump, personally as well as politically. Ignore his insults, and instead sarcastically rebuke his infantile political views and programs. Haughtily hammer home how his idiotic programs and plans either brought us down, or failed to materialize, simply because they were so stupid that even a GOP controlled congress couldn’t get them across the finish line. And you might want to start with all 647 Infrastructure Weeks. And then close with a reference to Biden’s successful multi trillion infrastructure program with a majority smaller than the one Trump had.

All of this insult, especially in a public forum, will turn Trump into a feral animal. And Trump only has one mode for insult and personal humiliation. Instant attack mode. And since Trump hasn’t had an intelligent thought since the obstetrician slapped him on his fat ass, his retaliation will be pure insult and infantile vitriol. All of which will thrill his brand dead Trombie base, but just remind everybody else why they hate his guts so much.

So there you have it. We’ve had seven years of Trump by now, and we now know the nature of the beast. The simple fact is that the egocentric, self indulgent, sociopathic Trump is incapable of recognizing shifting sands, and adapting to them. Which is exactly why the dinosaurs ended up in the La Brea tar pits. And nobody will be happier to watch his petulant ass sink into the same political tar pit.

  1. The entire GOP ” is incapable of recognizing shifting sands, and adapting to them.” Along with their win at all costs actions, that’s why the party is dying. Claiming to be the party of “freedom” while treating their base like they’re stupid, banning books and words, denying constituents – especially women – health care, rendering their votes meaningless, and supporting more semi and automatic weapons on the street while offering only thoughts and prayers to the families and survivors of mass shootings are all part of the rot that will eventually devour them.

Murf, I don’t think that’s going to work. ANY GOP candidate (whether at the presidential level or lower) who invokes Biden’s name in ANY manner that suggests anything less than all-out loathing and hatred is going to be tagged as a “RINO.” I can’t see any GOP candidate wanting to seem as though he or she might want to appear “bipartisan”; they HAVE to appear as “uncompromising” and “unyielding” against “the enemy” (ie, “Democrats”) at all times. For a GOPer to dare suggest that Biden did *ANYTHING* good (for anyone at all) is tantamount to admitting to being a Satanic transsexual welfare cheat who’s keeping illegal aliens in your house.

  3. The Guns Over People party will never be less evil than it has been. It’s been that way since the rich southern democrats lost the Civil War and morphed the party of Lincoln into a rich white man’s cult.
