It’s a day of congratulations in Trump world. You probably saw that disgusting image of a submissive Mike Johnson handing over the Speaker’s gavel to Donald Trump to cosplay with. That image immediately started going around social media and it was bashed for its “dark symbolism.” I don’t know if dark is the proper descriptor. Both chambers of Congress have basically bowed down before their Orange Lord and so might as well hand him the gavel or give him the Senate podium. What difference would it make? But here’s an ominous reminder of how Trump’s slashing and burning of governmental bodies have resulted in death in Texas today — and missing children.

This is valid. COVID got out of control because Trump knew about it as early as October of 2019. He chose to do nothing with the information. And worse than that, when Trump first was in office, he chose to fire a lot of people who were experts in epidemiology — even in a pre-Musk world, Trump was thinking that these people were unnecessary.
And then in March of 2020 when the lie that COVID was a left-wing hoax could no longer be sustained, then it all hit the fan mid-month. That’s when the demonization of Dr. Fauci began and the madness with the bleach, black lights and horse antiparasitic.
There’s a clear pattern of Trump and his cohorts deciding what is essential and important and what is not. And then people start dying.
Flash floods exist wherever there is desert. And they can be devastating. There was a monsoon season here in Las Vegas in 2021 and it made headlines all over the world. There was a photo of a beautiful Mercedes Benz stalled in downtown Vegas, up to its rear view mirror in water. I believe the photographer got a Pulitizer.
Point being, yes, these things happen. But the more people you have manning the observation places and making educated guesses about what will happen and when, the better off everybody is. Lives are definitely saved when alerts go out to get off the road when a flash flood warning is in effect. I myself have high tailed it to safety on more than one occasion.
Lives will be lost with Trump in office again. Tragic but true.

“Flash floods exist wherever there is desert.”
Minor nitpick here but flash floods exist ANYWHERE. Even places where rain falls fairly routinely, flash floods are a concern. Especially when you have low-lying areas and there’s been a LOT of rain in a very short time.
There’s always a price to be paid for denying reality, especially if it’s as powerful as climate.
