Yup, she’s at it again. She does so well at making herself look like an idiot. After all, she doesn’t have far to go. One might say she doesn’t have far to go because she’s just plain idiotic all of the time, not just part of the time. How she made it into the federal government, we’ll never understand. From AlterNet:

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina) made a major announcement early Monday morning, August 4: She is seeking the GOP gubernatorial nomination in her state. And it didn’t take Mace’s critics, a combination of Democrats and right-wing Never Trump conservatives, long to attack her and note how much of a flip-flopper she has been: Mace was highly critical of President Donald Trump following the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol Building, but she later went full MAGA and often resorts to performative stunts to express her devotion to him.

Oh, boy, does she ever! Nancy easily gets carried away. Considering all the people competing for Trump’s attention, she’s an afterthought. She voted for the Big Ugly Bill. So did a bunch of other Republicans, so she was simply one of a crowd. But that doesn’t keep her from trying! The woman should give up Congress and go act onstage. She wouldn’t make the same money, but she’d have a good career as the woman first killed in a play or musical. Overact much?

Mace promoted her gubernatorial run by holding a town hall, which she equated with entering a “lion’s den.” And that analogy is bringing the congresswoman some biting criticism and mockery on X, formerly Twitter. NBC News’ Julie Tsirkin, on X, reported, “Rep Nancy Mace, holding her 1st town hall since announcing her run for Governor (and one of her only town halls this year), says she will ‘walk into every lion’s den’ and talk to anyone. The event is ticketed (free), but those who aren’t supportive of Mace are being asked to leave.” But Mace, according to Tsirkin, made sure the event had a MAGA flavor and didn’t encourage other points of view.

Of course she didn’t! She wanted her sycophants only so she wouldn’t get faced with the heckling and the hard questions. She wasn’t there to talk to her constituents. She set it up to protect herself. Here she was, a brave Republican, holding a town hall! Color me unimpressed.

Democratic insider Aaron Fritschner tweeted, “lol- Nancy Mace took just 10 minutes of questions at a ‘town hall’ in a deep red part of her district while asking people who don’t support her to leave and called it going into the ‘lion’s den.’ There are plenty of mediocrities in Congress, but few are this dramatic about it.” Author Anthony M. Hopper posted, “I guess she’s okay with lions as long as they are kittens.”

SCORCHED. Wasn’t that lovely? I think everyone knows about her, but surely the opinions don’t count from anyone who isn’t a constituent. It’s lame not to allow people into a “town hall” who aren‘t MAGA. It’s wimpiness. It’s … Nancy Mace.

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, with the exception of one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to keep going in our quest to tell the truth about Trump and see democracy survive. If you can help, please do. Thanks. Ursula

  1. When it comes to looking stupid, Ms Mace can be heard singing a line from a song. The words she can be heard repeating over and over are, “All I gotta do is act naturally!”
