The clock is ticking. Tonight is a premiere of Melania at the Kennedy Center and tomorrow is the real world premiere, the crucible in which we’ll see how this vanity project of Melania and bribe of Jeff Bezos ultimately fares. For now we learn that the GOP has begun to busy itself buying tickets to counter the online mockery attending poor or zero ticket sales in some venues.

Poor ticket sales for Melania Trump‘s documentary have reportedly led to a rescue effort by the GOP.

Reports claim that multiple clubs, affiliated with the party to which the first lady’s husband, Donald Trump, belongs, have been buying out theater seats in an effort to mask the film’s struggles.

Still, the ticket-buying issue appears difficult to escape, as many people are reportedly uninterested in attending Melania Trump’s event even when tickets are offered for free.

‘Melania’ Ticket Sales Falter Months After Premiere Announcement: ‘This Isn’t Organic Demand’

Melania Trump speaks to Donald Trump's supporters at a "Make America Great Again" campaign rally event on October 31, 2020 in Wapwallopen, PA.

When Melania announced the release date of her documentary last year, she was likely hoping for a huge turnout from audiences eager to hear her give her own side of the events leading up to President Trump’s inauguration. […]

Despite the ample time since the announcement, ticket sales for “Melania” have reportedly struggled in theaters where it will be shown later this month.

This has allegedly forced Republican clubs across several conservative-leaning areas to quietly begin buying out screenings in a bid to save face for the former model and, by extension, President Trump.

“This isn’t organic demand,” one insider told journalist Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop. “It’s about optics. Empty theaters look terrible.”

There’s a Catch-22 at work here, also. There are no reviews of this opus. If there were good reviews, that would lead people into theaters. Conversely, bad reviews would keep people out. But no reviews at all just prolongs the suspense, because it’s asking the public to take a leap of faith and buy something sight unseen.

Be of good cheer, however. The agony ends tomorrow night and by Saturday we should know who actually showed up and what’s sitting in the cash box. Estimates have Melania taking in between $1 million and $5 million. On a budget of $75 million that’s considered a massive flop but then again, this movie didn’t get made the way most movies do. Jeff Bezos has already gotten $35 billion richer since Trump took office, so he’s got the benefit of his bargain with the devil.

  1. it still doesn’t mean anyone is going to actually show up. i think the problem is no one really cares because she has never fit into the first lady mold. almost every first lady back to martha washington played a public role in the country and tried to do sone good. melania has never shown any real interest in that or, for that matter, in her marriage. she shows up when she has to but it’s usually clear she isn’t really interested. conseque tly no one is particularly interested in her.

  2. There’s still time for some fast organizing.

First, Democratic organizers in every city where a theater(s) will screen this piece of shit should hire a small team of private investigators, say three for each theater. One (he/she would deserve a bonus) can sit inside wearing a set of those horned rim glasses with a camera and microphone in them. He can turn now and then to show how many people are actually in the theater. He should get in early, and before taking a seat pretend to try out multiple spots and plant listening devices. I’m sure with today’s tech all this can be connected to a nearby receiver – perhaps a laptop outside with another member of the team that can be similarly equipped with glass to monitor the lobby and the exits – people leaving early! I’m sure they’d have no trouble finding volunteers among the protesters that can cover every exit out of the building – they can film people leaving with date/time stamped footage. Perhaps even this could be connected to the main laptop.

As for THAT laptop have it set up to livestream. Maybe some rich donor would buy server time and get someone to whip up a program between now and this time tomorrow that would allow visitors to the site to type to a ‘Where is Melania being shown?” website, and have functions that would allow users to check out specific theaters, or just randomly click from theater to theater showing all the empty seats!

Hell, put it on FB and Xitter too! Let’s see Musk and Zuckerberg try to justify blocking the content.

  3. that may be little harder to do. i skimmed an article that said a very large number of theaters across the country had just canceled their showings due to paltry ticket sales. we will see. what happens that is, i have no intention of seeing the film and won’t even watch a trailer.

  4. Reports from London suggest that advance ticket sales are basically non-existent: across 28 theatres in the city screening the Melania opus, fewer than 10 tickets have been reserved. British online sites have been deluged with complaints about the vanity exercise even being shown, when actual films are competing for theatre time.
