This is too funny! If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen! A certain Senatorial candidate has shown he doesn’t have what it takes when facing questions. Trump definitely made a mistake with this one. Too late for second thoughts now. It’s giving his opponent a chance to show he is the better choice for the seat. Oops! With gratitude for Raw Story:
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s press conference to attack his Democratic rival, state Rep. James Talarico, went off the rails on Tuesday as reporters repeatedly asked him about his own political scandals — ultimately driving him to cut the event off early and run away. The event was a gathering of Texas sheriffs, intended to focus on police issues and attack Talarico for supposedly wanting to defund law enforcement.
Ho ho ho. He didn’t want to answer some of those questions about *his* background. It’s difficult to cut down Mr. Talarico when his own skeletons are not just rattling around in the closet; they are coming out and standing next to him. Reporters can see them clear as day. They will ask the hard questions. That’s part of what reporting is about. They are (usually) non-political. So they will ask the hard questions of Democrats, too.
“General, I wanted to give you a chance to respond to State Representative Talarico and his campaign,” said one reporter. “They’ve made a lot about the reports that have come out, one in the New York Times, about you acquiring properties worth— “Can we keep this to law enforcement?” Paxton said, cutting him off. “I’m giving you the opportunity to answer—” the reporter said. “I’d like to — (EDIT: cuts him off again) because we’re here with the sheriffs, I’d like to keep today to law enforcement,” said Paxton. “So that’s what I’m going to hand you. Questions about law enforcement.”
Tippy toe now. That question is going to come up again since Paxton cut him off. Twice. Paxton apparently doesn’t want to say anything about himself. I wonder why *innocent blink* Nobody is going to defund the police. We need them. Someone really dug into this. I don’t remember the article name, but defunding the police force would cause MUCH bigger problems than it seems. That was widely read. What we need is accountability. They need bodycams, need to use them for an “incident”, explain their budget, so on and so forth. Personally, not having the police is Very Bad.
Paxton’s aide then called on another reporter. “Will you answer a question about why you voted in Collin County?” asked the reporter. “Clear that up?” Paxton shook his head with agitation, as his aide said, “So we’re just going to do questions on law enforcement today, because we’re joined with 22 amazing law enforcement officers.” Shortly after this, as another reporter tried to ask a question, the aide started waving her hand, saying, “We’re going to get out of here. We’re going to get out of here,” as Paxton walked off the stage, leaving the sheriffs to stand around.
Run, run, run away. Ooooo, that is not a good look. Leaving and abandoning your guests is unprofessional and insulting. Let’s hope they understood exactly what Ken did – wimped out on the questions and left in one helluva hurry. Apparently Ken can’t handle questions about his past, which is definitely relevant. This Trump pick is not doing at all well. We knew he was going to have trouble as soon as his impeachment started. More and more has come out that shows he is not a good guy. Let’s hope his disaster continues, because seeing Talarico run ahead with fundraising, town halls, appearances, and making it obvious that he is the better choice, even with something in his background that might show up. He needs to answer the hard questions because Paxton won’t. The more he comes out ahead of Paxton, the better. And maybe some of the Paxton voters will think the better of voting for him, then stay home or *gasp* vote blue (as if that would actually happen, but it’s a good thought.)

with all those sherrifs standing around did anyone think to ask them why they are endorsing some who has beem credibly accused of multiple crimes?

“But, Mr Paxton, doesn’t your voting in a county where you don’t live have some connection with LAW ENFORCEMENT? How do we have ‘secure elections’ and ‘prevent voter fraud’ if no one’s there to *enforce* the *law*? And, since you’re technically the TOP ‘law enforcement official’ in Texas, shouldn’t you be following the law?”

OK, the Raw Story article cited mentions 22 law enforcement in attendance at Paxton’s news conference. A quick Google search reveals that Texas has one sheriff for each of its 254 counties, making me wonder if the law enforcement attendees were selected by the Paxton people based on their politics. Gotta wonder if any were like the sheriff portrayed by Sydney Greenstreet in thec1949 movie “Flamingo Road”…..
