And Trump did it to her by accident. It seems that his denial of something she said could land her in even hotter water, since she’s already there. And what lawyer would want to take on her case? Mmmm that would be a giant NOPE. There is not one drop of sympathy coming her way. She doesn’t deserve it. With acknowledgement to Raw Story:

President Donald Trump caught everyone off guard by suddenly firing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem — but being out of a job could just be the start of her problems. That’s because, according to at least some observers, the thing that appears to have prompted Trump to fire her may be a federal crime. According to the New York Post, Trump said that Noem lied to Congress when she claimed during an intense hearing she had the president’s personal sign-off for a $220 million ad campaign for the Department of Homeland Security that featured her prominently, riding a horse in front of Mount Rushmore: “Two sources close to the White House told The Post that Trump is furious that Noem testified that he approved of the ads — and set in motion his later move to fire her.”

Oops. How could she forget that Trump’s ego is what matters? Or was she too busy working on her own ego/image and bossing everyone around? Okay, that was actually Corey, thank heavens he’s gone, doing the bossing, but geez! Testimony that made the president look even worse than he already does, and that’s quite an accomplishment, is something she should have thought of.

The trouble is, she was under oath at the time she made the claims about getting Trump’s approval for the ad — which, as Democratic strategist Matt McDermott pointed out on X, means that if Trump is telling the truth, Noem committed a federal crime. “The President of the United States is accusing Kristi Noem of committing perjury, a federal crime,” wrote McDermott.

That’s certainly what it sounds like. If he says he didn’t, and she says he did, the president will come out on top just because he’s the president. Krispi forgot to CYA, and it may come back to bite her in the A. This is not a heartbreaker. Keep hitting her. More, more, more! She needs to go down so hard that South Dakota won’t want her back. (My mind went off in a different direction for a moment. What is it going to be like for the World Cup with Mark-My-Words-He-Sucks-Wayne Mullin holding the reins? Oh, mercy.) Actually, no state may want her, especially after the ICE/CBP shenanigans in Minneapolis.

To be in real legal jeopardy, Trump’s Justice Department would have to actually prosecute Noem for the offense, which doesn’t appear likely. However, many other observers noted the incredible facts of the situation. “NOEM screwed up DHS response to Pretti killing, stonewalled IG investigations, has seen allegations of inappropriate relations with aide Lewandowski, bought luxury jet fleet, and spent a ton on ads starring hers truly,” wrote former Politico reporter Rachel Bade. “But in the end, the thing that did her in was throwing her boss under the bus.”

She really did throw Trump under the bus. Then he stood up and kicked her A with no warning. This new position has to be for show. It *sounds* good, but it may be a sham to let Krispi gain back respect. I’m not holding my breath. I’m also still *not* sympathetic. She made a shambles of DHS from the get-go, especially with the Huge Effing Fail on the Texas floods. Having her personally sign every check over a certain amount absolutely screwed the people there. She’s gutting FEMA. Is there anyone who can knock some sense into Trump that we really do need FEMA? Gnome didn’t think so. I’m pretty sure we *do* think so. We’ll see what happens next.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. Of course, since her perjury (if it really was–and all we have to say it was are Drumpf’s words, and those are about as trustworthy as a Drumpf U degree or as valuable as a Drumpf crypto coin) is a federal crime, Drumpf can always “pardon” her (after she’s done her appropriate penance, of course–by saying she “misspoke” or that she had been “misled” into believing Drumpf signed off on the ad; then again, if she makes such comments before any formal investigation begins, the whole perjury case goes up in smoke because the prosecution has to PROVE she intentionally deceived Congress and that any claims of her “misspeaking” or being “misled” were provable lies).
