We have a serious situation being foreshadowed now in the last three weeks of the interregnum. At first the talk was vague, but now these clips are coming closer together, the labor pains of a monstrous lie which is about to be born, eclipsing the original Big Lie, which was certainly bad enough. Last night Marge Greene threatened to go after the U.S. attorney who prosecuted a number of the Capitol rioters, inferring that the man somehow broke the law, rather than enforcing it. And now we have this fruitfly, seeking attention and relevance by championing this malevolent cause. Let’s be plain: this is the McCarthy witchhunt of the 50’s on steroids, in terms of sheer injustice and the damage this will do to peoples’ lives and our culture as a whole.
So he wants to investigate trumps old fbi and see why the people trump put in there did all this?

Eric Burleson is from MO-7 and has been their Rep since the 2022 midterms. So he’s got his foot in the MAGA door and now he needs to publicize bad causes, as dramatically as possible, because that will get him a lot of airtime. He’s on Newsmax now but that’s the launch pad to Fox and all the right-wing podcasts. Eric needs to give Nancy Mace a call, she gets on TV and podcasts more than anybody in the House and if there is a pro that can teach him the ropes, she’s the one. After all, Sidney Powell started talking about the Kraken on Newsmax and look at the instant elevation of profile that that caused. Mmm, mmm.
This is the new breed of *politician* in the GOP. It’s all about being a talking head on TV. It doesn’t matter if you help your constituents or not, just get known, get a social media following, be Somebody.

Now look at the big picture here:
- Trump will not let go of the Stolen Election fable. Shortly after he was elected he went on Meet The Press and told Kristen Welker that he was still pushing the Stolen Election, when she asked him if he would agree that the 2020 election was fair, since he had just won. Nope.
- Many Republicans, starting with Mike Pence back in the day, told him to get off of that soapbox and move beyond. Ron DeSantis echoed the sentiment. There is no credible evidence of any election interference in 2020 but Trump will not let it go.
- So the Big Lie has had new life breathed into it. A few weeks ago a story came out stating that the FBI had “26 informants” present on January 6. That has been twisted to the benefit of this conspiracy theory and the word “informants” has been mischaracterized as meaning the same as “agents.” Nothing is farther from the truth.
- Now you’ve got newcomers to Congress like Burlison, attempting to step out of the chorus line and into the spotlight, using January 6 as the means to do so.
It is all too true that, “Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” Trump and his thugs now control the present — or will in 21 days. And from the looks of it, one of the first orders of business is to whitewash the coup d’etat that Trump attempted and make him into the victim.
The good news is that the rest of the world has examined the facts along with America as they took place. But that doesn’t mean a lot of damage wasn’t done. The Republicans went along with this madness to get along with Trump. There is not a single elected Republican official who doesn’t know the truth, that the election was not stolen and it’s Trump’s ego which is fueling this corrosive conspiracy theory.
The tragedy is that the ego of one authoritarian can destroy a nation. History has shown us many examples.
Trump seeks to have history rewritten. He may very well succeed with *educators* like Oklahoma’s Ryan Walters. If we start memory holing the truth of what happened in 2020, which is what Trump wants, and present a revised history of a coup d’etat being done to Trump, rather than him being the perpetrator of same, then we will become a third world country. That one step, legitimizing the biggest political lie ever told in this country, and pronouncing it real, revising our history, will destroy our credibility in the eyes of the world.
And what’s unfortunate is that with the reelection of Trump, we don’t have much credibility left to destroy. This truly is America’s darkest hour. I don’t say that to depress you on this last day of 2024, but to galvanize you into seeing this for what it is, the world’s greatest con artist doing his greatest con, and doing everything you can to stand up for truth.
Truth is a precious commodity and will become even more so in the days to come.

It seems eerily fitting that the SyFy network is airing a marathon of old “Twilight Zone” episodes today. We’re already in an era of distorted and disappearing facts, and it’s about to get much worse.
“And from the looks of it, one of the first orders of business is to whitewash the coup d’etat that Trump attempted and make him into the victim.”
Strictly speaking it wasn’t a “coup d’état” as that involves a change to the whole of the government, typically by forces who are not part of the government itself. The J6 insurrectionists were NOT trying to change “the government” as Donald Trump was still the President (and they were attempting to ensure he stayed in that role).
This would be better described as a “self-coup” in which someone who’s come to power legally attempts to stay in power through illegal means. And that’s exactly what Trump did by inciting the J6 insurrectionists. He was trying to stay in control through decidedly un-Constitutional (if not entirely illegal) means. (I say, “not entirely legal,” since those “strict Constitutionalists” sitting on the Supreme Court decided that whatever a President does in his “official” capacity as President can’t be illegal.)
It may be Trumpler’ supreme stupidity, ignorance and incompetence which saves us in the end. His regime will be chaotic, to say the least, and chaos doesn’t encourage getting anything done, including the dismantling of a huge established government. The congressional GOP may be all spineless, amoral ass-lickers but there are thousands of good people inside government who will fight tooth & nail to protect our democracy. As soon as Trumpler sees that his task will be difficult, he’ll do what he’s always done when things get tough: he’ll get going to the golf course.
That’s true. That being said, say you and I are tumbling around in the back seat,(no seat belts), of a car speeding down a mountain road, at night, and WE know the guy driving has no idea what’s he’s doing. The road is curvy, slanted, with steep dropoffs that mean death if the guy doesn’t keep it on the road. Oh, I forgot to mention, he won’t stop looking at himself in the mirror. That’s my comfort level right now. This is an excellent time in the ongoing saga of our species to continue the ancient tradition of believing in supernatural miracles. Whatever works. I just want out of the car. Hey if America is suicidal…I can’t go with the program. As Lincoln once said, during another unimaginable crisis in our history, he said he often found himself on his knees…with no other place to go. Amen.
