Secretary of Defense Peter Hegseth should be more concerned about the latest intel reports regarding Iranian officials being surprised that our bombing didn’t cause more damage than he is about his press coverage. As it is, Hegseth spent the week attacking the media much more than a newly emboldened Iran, especially during a disastrous news conference in which Hegseth confirmed why women should fear this man. Hegseth made the cardinal mistake of personally attacking his former colleague at Fox News, Jennifer Griffin. Thus it was that Fox News’s media analyst Howard Kurtz went after Hegseth today, trashing him in the process. The criticism comes after the social media worked Hegseth over earlier in the week, and deservedly so.
But first to Kurtz. According to a report in Rawstory:
“For Secretary Pete Hegseth, the main target was the media,” Fox News host Howard Kurtz said Sunday of last week’s statements to the press. “Liz, who do you think those anti-press comments were aimed at? Who was the audience for saying you all hate Trump, and that’s why you want to tear them down?”
“I don’t think that Secretary Hegseth was good at communicating there,” Claman replied. “He had a script; he was ready to go on attack. And when he went after Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin, if you notice… She asked a question that was a follow-up to another reporter’s question, which was actually quite magnanimous, but it was very calm saying, well, wait, can you just address what the previous reporter asked about those satellite photos that showed a bunch of trucks two days before the B-2 brilliant bombing attacks.”
Yes, he very much went on the attack as noted below, referencing Hegseth’s attack on Griffin:

Yes, and yet Kurtz and Co. weren’t finished:
“He just got extremely triggered, and he said, Jennifer, you’re the worst,” she continued. “And he seemed to have a very sensitive nerve that was somehow touched by reporters who were simply asking questions.”
Claman argued that Hegseth should leave the press conferences “to the generals who are calm, collected, and almost professorial in explaining things.”
“Pete Hegseth was ready, I don’t know for what, but he really kind of got triggered there,” she added. “It made it look like he wasn’t ready to answer a question that was quite obvious.”

The presser offers proof that Hegseth is an abuser. Abusive men not only gaslight to manipulate their victims, they verbally assault them with belittling insults. That covers it fairly well. Given the leaks over critical classified intelligence on an impending attack involving using Signal (FFS), the unsuccessful Iranian bombing, and now this atrocious behavior, it is apparent that even his friends over at Fox News have lost confidence in the drunken bastard who should never have been confirmed in the first place. You don’t get to rape women and then lead free lives, never mind become a vital cabinet member.
But even if we skip the entirety of the above, he should still be fired for gross incompetence, and the presser proves it. The man is far more concerned with what the American press has to say about the bombing than he is with the Iranians – who aren’t impressed, according to The Washington Post. He was always unqualified and remains unqualified, but now he’s provided us more proof that he simply isn’t the right person for the job. Granted, that describes the entire cabinet and White House right now but we have to start somewhere and rapists should go first. So, out Secretary Hegseth, out President…

I don’t know who that “Wilma Marlene Fine” is but she’s dead wrong on the confirmation vote. The ACTUAL vote–available to view on the Senate’s own website (https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_votes/vote1191/vote_119_1_00015.htm ) was 50-Yea and 50-Nay.
ALL 46 DEMOCRATIC SENATORS, BOTH INDEPENDENT SENATORS AND TWO REPUBLICAN SENATORS (Murkowski and Collins–who apparently managed to overcome her usual “concerns”) voted AGAINST Hegseth’s nomination. The man would not be Secretary of Defense if it weren’t for J D Vance casting the tie-breaking vote.
So, it seems that not even Bluesky is immune to posts from STUPID ASSHOLES who prefer to post outrageous lies for whatever reason. The rhymes-with-witch needs to be slammed for her lie that ANY Democrat had anything to do with Hegseth’s being where he is now.
