Whoa, Nelly. Stop the presses. Something very radical has just happened. I would say let’s wait for Mother Tucker’s broadcast tonight and see what he has to say but he doesn’t work on weekends.

Take a look at this. Judith Miller is being interviewed on Fox News. Watch and then we’ll talk about who she is.

Maybe Putin putting the nuclear arsenal on high alert caused some Fox News execs to start thinking that if they’re dead and the studios are glowing in the dark there isn’t going to be much money in supporting Vladimir Putin.

Miller is the New York Times reporter who got the weapons of mass destruction information all wrong. You remember what a flap that was and that’s understating it. She also was in jail for a while over the Valerie Plame dust up. This will refresh your recollection. History:

On September 29, 2005, New York Times reporter Judith Miller is released from a federal detention center in Alexandria, Virginia, after agreeing to testify in the investigation into the leaking of the identity of covert CIA officer Valerie Plame. Miller had been behind bars since July 6, 2005, for refusing to reveal a confidential source and testify before a grand jury that was looking into the so-called Plame Affair. She decided to testify after the source she had been protecting, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, signed a waiver giving her permission to speak.

The Plame Affair dates back to a July 6, 2003 op-ed piece for the New York Times written by former U.S. diplomat Joseph Wilson, Plame’s husband. In it, Wilson questioned the Bush Administration’s reasons for going to war in Iraq. Later that month, on July 14, undercover agent Valerie Plame’s identity was revealed in a newspaper column by Robert Novak. Wilson’s claim that the disclosure was retaliation by the White House for his op-ed piece sparked an investigation in December 2003 led by special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald. A 1982 law made it illegal to reveal information about a covert agent to anyone not authorized to receive such classified information.

Fitzgerald interviewed President George W. Bush, Vice President Cheney and other top administration officials, along with various journalists. Although Miller hadn’t written an article about Plame, she did meet with Libby shortly after Wilson’s op-ed piece was published and Fitzgerald believed Miller had information that was relevant to his investigation.

She’s on Fox News because she’s got some street cred as a Republican and as a reporter who has been at the center of some major governmental events. Interesting that she would be talking about Putin in this context.

Tucker Carlson was calling the Ukraine war “nothing more than a border dispute” this week. Right, Tucker, they’re just bickering over an easement over there. No biggy. Right.

Plus, he’s been saying he wants to interview Vladimir Putin. So what gives? Anybody?

  1. Rupert Murdoch realizes how bad Putin looks and how bad he’ll look if he continues to support him?
  2. Various heavy duty sponsors have threatened to cancel their ads?
  3. Some Republican leaders have contacted Murdoch and said, “You’re laying it on too thick?”
  4. I was right the first time when I talked about the nuclear arsenal?
  5. All of the above.

Now the really interesting part of this, is what will Putin and Russian TV’s response be, to the Russian TV New York Bureau, aka Fox News, going rogue?

I seriously don’t know but want to find out the answer to this more than anything. This intrigues me. Color me fascinated.

  1. Do recall that Tucker was already changing his tune after Ukraine made it through its third day of being invaded. Watching Putin unravel along with the entire planet disowning all things Russian probably made Rupert realize that there is no profit to be made here.

  2. I suggested this very thing (someone going Brutus) yesterday in a comment to one of Murfster’s articles. I know we aren’t supposed to actively advocate violence against individuals but let’s just say I don’t think I’d be the only person here and in other countries including Russia who would feel a sense of relief if such a thing came to pass.

    • “Wherefore rejoice? What tributaries does he bring home?…You blocks, you stones, you worse than senseless things!”

Will Shakespeare’s lines from Julius Caesar’s opening scene are perfect for all who have supported Putin.

  3. It’s murdoch so #2 makes the only sense. These fuckers worship the dollar and that is all they worship. Threaten their cash flow and they pussy out real quick.

  4. I’m sure that Putin is considering the ultimate untimely end of Momar Ghadafi and Sadam Houssien. It’s quite likely that the Russian people are rather disenchanted by the actions of Mr. Putin? So hiding in a hole may be in the very near future for Mr. Putin?
