Stupid is as stupid does Mama Gump
This is almost too stupid for words. Unless of course you realize it’s Trump’s personal proctoscope, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, then it makes perfect sense.
Since the six drooling GOP imbeciles on the SCOTUS announced their apocalyptic decision on Dobbs, the majority of the GOP has been running away from the issue of abortion like a tomcat from a veterinarian’s scalpel. There is endless reporting of lifelong GOP anti abortion incumbents and challengers wiping their campaign websites clean of any references to the issue of abortion. Yeah, right. Like anything ever actually disappears from the internet. The last thing that any GOP candidate wants to talk about is abortion.
But fear not GOP, because help is on the way! Today, South Carolina Senator Leningrad Lindsey Graham rode charged in on a shit stained steed, and submitted a new bill in the Senate that would basically make the abortion ban nationwide after 15 weeks. As proposed, it would allow exclusions for cases of incest and life-of-the-mother.
This dick move is so brain dead that I hardly know where to start. The national GOP is running from the abortion issue like a scalded cat, and the along comes Hopalong Graham and nationalized it. Democrats can always attack opponents with the mantra of Whatever my opponent may say, a nationwide abortion ban is what the national GOP wants.
And it’s not going over well. After doctors gave Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell a shot of epinephrine to get his heart going again, he was propped in front of a camera so he could say, I believe that the majority of our conference wants this issue settled in the states, and not in the congress. For the uninitiated, that’s Senate Minority Leader speak for Sit down and shut the fuck up!
And here’s the most brain dead thing about all of this. Leningrad Lindsey Graham has absolutely nothing to gain by this moronic play. Graham isn’t up for reelection this cycle! It’s not like he has to rally his MAGA base behind him. And God knows that his overlord, Traitor Tot’s position is as twisted as an Alfred Hitchcock thriller. GOP leadership desperately wants this issue to go away. So why is Graham suddenly, within 60 days of election day, showering shit down on the head of every GOP candidate?
This is a classical case of political malpractice. The national GOP wants this issue to disappear for the next 60 days, and Graham takes out national billboards spotlighting it. And so, for doing your part to torpedo your party’s chances of picking up seats in the 2022 midterms, Senator Lindsey Graham, Stand up and take a bow, FOOL!
What a weasel. When confronted by the woman who told a heartwrenching story, he tried to make the argument we need to get in line with the rest of the world. Really? Like Iran? Saudi Arabia? N.Korea? Is he smoking crack?
O how I live the smell of fryin repukes in the morning!!
I couldn’t help but think of a classic moment in Full Metal Jacket when the Captain (of the Stars & Stripes military journalists) outlines the tactical situation after the sun rose in the morning after the Tet Offensive kicked off (it was bad for us) For McConnell or McCarthy, or for any state GOP leader briefing the GOP folks up for election they have to acknowledge real problems, and that what should have been a cakewalk in November will in so many races be anything but, and even that they are screwed in all too many. And then Graham drops his not at all little bomb into the mix after so much work went into trying to scrub websites and social media and such to pretend all that anti-abortion stuff never happened.
The leaders might put it differently, but what follows is the reality they now face:
Linseed Graham Cracker needs the Turtle out of the way. Staying minority leader, at his age, I would guess he won’t run for re-electoon. In steps Linseed to rescue the day by volunteering to lead. Either a variation of that is true, or he has seriously lost the plot…..imho
I figured it was just an act of pure desperation. Try to get the RW Evangelicals who might be sitting this election out thinking the abortion issue IS STILL an issue with this national bill. If your going to lose anyway, what’s the harm in trying? Obviously it’s not a brilliant idea. Someone having Lindsey trot this out so that tantrumthinskin has something to point to for LOSING AGAIN is odd b/c couldn’t they just point to the SC instead of pointing to Graham/abortion? I’d LOVE to know whose idea this is and why they think it’s a good idea b/c I don’t see ANY pro’s and a gigantic list of cons.
