Donald Trump for sure won’t get his Nobel Peace Prize if he goes along with this “Christian pastor” in Indiana who calls gay people f****** and suggests “you should blow yourself in the back of the head, you’re so disgusting.” Wow. Anger, much? This “church” made it clear that they were “only calling for the death penalty and suicide for the actual sodomites (homosexuals). The Bible teaches that those people are worthy of death. They are supposed to be executed by the government. We are not to take the law into our own hands.” And conveniently they have a government in power that might just oblige them on this.

This is the Pray Away the Gay crowd. Indiana is also famous for gay conversion therapy. And it’s not just the gays that are taken to task in Indiana. Back when Mike Pence got on the ticket in 2016, we found out about how women were terrified to miscarry a child, because heaven forfend that that would be construed as an abortion somehow, and then all hell could break loose.

One member of the LGBTQ community told WISH-TV, “Children are targeted silently and violently. These children don’t know social constructs until we teach them that. And, so, when we’re teaching them through hate and disguising it as scripture, what we’re doing is abusing them.”

Reporter Kyla Russell said the Concerned Clergy of Indianapolis called the message “theologically irresponsible and pastorally dangerous,” adding that they “stand for dignity, inclusion, and justice for all people, including their LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters.”

Far be it from me to impugn the Bible, let alone to religious fanatics, but the Bible does say you should “heap burning coals upon thine enemies’ heads” and that it’s okay to kill thine enemies babies, as well. I’ve known Sunday School teachers who have laughed at outdated passages in the Bible.

And realize, too, the Bible was written by men and who knows what got changed and for what political purposes? Gay men might have been scorned biblically because they weren’t reproducing and providing the state with workers and soldiers. Gay women were not discriminated against so much because they could always be raped and made to comply. If you look at it in that context, it all begins to make a bit more sense.

Let’s see what the White House responds to this, if at all. That should be enlightening. Trump’s Faith Office gathered together to pray for the flood victims in Texas. I’m all for prayer but I think if you could ask God what he would have Trump do right now, the answer would be “restaff the freaking weather bureau and get the scientists back on board to research how all this happens in the first place.” For you see, science is not a matter of faith. It’s there, and it’s going to work according to the principles of the universe, whether you believe in it or not.

    • You are so right Alberto. Anyone different. In the case of preacher Steven Falco, gay men are probably a threat to his imagined masculinity. I think he looks really gay, BTW.

  1. The two greatest commandments reportedly stated by Christ: love God with all your heart, mind, and soul. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. I guess these asshats haven’t gotten that far in the texts. Keep on and you’ll be discovering what St. Paul meant by evil powers and principalities of darkness. Oh, nevermind. All you really worship is money and yourselves.
