Team Trump is probably tearing its hair out right now, because while they would prefer to keep the focus on the Republican National Convention, starting in a few hours, news stories are breaking right and left that do nothing but showcase the sheer incompetence and corruption of the Trump administration. The latest development is that one of the news services, diligently going through court filings, as is its wont to do, just stumbled on a New York filing naming Eric Trump. Reuters:
NEW YORK (Reuters) – New York state’s attorney general has filed a new lawsuit against U.S. President Donald Trump’s company and several other defendants, according to court records.
The complaint against the Trump Organization and the other defendants was filed with a New York state court in Manhattan, the court records show.
A copy of the complaint was not immediately available, and its subject matter could not immediately be determined. A letter filed with the court indicates that Eric Trump, one of the president’s sons, is among the defendants.
It seems to be an axiom of the law, or it should be, that if you associate with Donald Trump long enough, eventually your name will be on a piece of pleading paper in the box marked “defendant.” That just seems the way of things, like the night follows the day, yet another veritable law of nature.
Kellyanne Conway announced her resignation Sunday night and part of that may be that she knows which skeletons are in what closet, so it’s time to skedaddle, while there are still a couple of wheels left on the wagon — but not for long. Already this morning, another tell-all book was announced, this time by Melania’s former friend, Stephanie Wolkoff, that promises to dish the dirt with recordings of Melania trashing Ivanka. And don’t forget Junior’s machinations with We Build The Wall, which will doubtlessly be revealed when it comes time for Steve Bannon to cut a plea deal. And Jared Kushner’s private back channel with “Putin’s money man” is now a breaking story. We don’t know if Jared will be a featured speaker at the RNC, but if he is, it’s a cinch he’s not going to talk about his ties with Russia.
This wonderful family will dominate the Republican National Convention this week, mainly because nobody else wants to, so get your fill. Particularly, enjoy Melania on Tuesday night, because that is her swan song. After Tuesday, she’s got “no plans” to support Trump’s reelection campaign on the road, and frankly, we don’t blame her. Do whatever the terms of the renegotiated pre-nup specify and get out of Dodge. And the day when they all pack up and leave Washington, D.C. for good can’t come soon enough.
Funny how all this is coming to a boil at the absolute worst time, yes? Do recall Falwell The Lesser getting kneecapped by his private sexual habits involving his pool boy as well right now. I had to make a guess, Lincoln Project and those of a similar bent are flooding the info at the optimal time to make Trump gets no bounce from the convention.
Definitely, the timing of Michael Cohen’s book and the Wolkoff tell-all about Melania is timed for release now. I don’t know what else will come out, but I sense there will be a lot of “October surprises” and I doubt if Trump will have much of one.
In my comment above resides some of the meat of this: This stuff ain’t any darned accident. A lot of knives have been sharpened and ready to go for a very long time–more than three years to be precise; maybe even five years.
Further, agree totally with you Ursula. Trump is simply doing one of the things he does best: blowing smoke up his own and anyone else’s ass. That’s all he has. BS, smoke and mirrors.

You know, when the days seemed darkest, my husband would contend that justice would eventually bite them in the ass. And he has always believed that it would come from legions of anonymous sources, many of whom were in the FBI, the Justice Department, and our intel services. Looks like he was spot on with his assessment. As he came out of an intel background before going on to get a PhD and become a filmmaker and professor, I didn’t blow him off; but I sure hoped he was going to be correct. Now it appears he was.
He likely saw what I did early on: the almost comical disregard for consequences that comes from the most noxious forms of hubris.
