This isn’t exactly Howard Beal threatening to blow his brains out on the air, but it isn’t run of the mill, either. A local Houston Fox News reporter took to the airwaves tonight to report on the upcoming heat wave and in a scene right of Network, she interrupted that story to bring a bulletin to the viewers that Fox News is hiding things from them, but that she’s going to tell all.

Here’s what Newsweek is reporting:

The contents of Hecker’s purported recordings are unclear, although Project Veritas has previously shared hidden camera videos alleging left-wing media bias. Some critics have accused the group of deceptive editing.

Hecker said that her dispute with Fox “had taken a dark turn last August” after interviewing an unspecified person in a statement to Newsweek. She said that she was told to keep silent about opposing “censorship” months later.

“They decided they didn’t like what the interview subject had said, and they went on to internally harass and defame me,” Hecker said. “I knew I was not working for a journalistic organization when I was called into an HR meeting in December and was told to keep my support for free speech and opposition to censorship to myself—that those were not matters to be publicly spoken about.”

“True journalism can’t exist in an environment of censorship,” added Hecker. “True journalism needs an environment of free speech.”

It will be interesting to watch what Project Veritas says after this promo. At least we should get a chuckle. The part that I’m already cracking up over is that she finally realized that she wasn’t working for a real news organization last August? That must have been some Come to Jesus moment.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall in the Fox corporate offices tonight. Dear Gawd.

Help keep the site running, consider supporting.

  1. I’m not sure I trust Project Veritas. They have done some shady things in the past. Remember the supposed abortion clinic scandal? They seemed quite underhanded in that situation. However, from a right-wing person’s point of view, she might feel they are some of the few people she can trust.
