Being as I’ve been in political writing for *much* less time than Ursula and Denis, I chose to wait until midterms were over to post. My short experience with this said, leave it to the pros. I didn’t feel I would do well.

Let’s start with: I was on the edge of my seat all day, hoping, but having to wait. There were, of course, particular races I was stressing about. Talarico, Ossoff (he’s my senator), the Ohio governor, Dr. Amy Acton, who stomped all over Ramaslimy, Maine, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kansas, and kept an eye on all the rest. I was afraid to hope for the blue wave, and it was a blue tsunami that I absolutely did not expect. Then I just found out, via Pz, that Hobert was 5,000 votes behind. We already had Nancy Mace get gone, and now Hobert should, too.

We flipped Congress. I was afraid to hope for the Senate. And we did it in style. We didn’t just flip Congress. We did it in a style that no one expected and not by one or two seats. It was decisive. I woke up this morning to the amazing news that Democrats had done it. There was a huge sigh of relief. Now, let’s get some things done and others corrected.

Democrats have quite a job ahead of them. They need to put a choke chain on Trump. They need to work on the economy. They need to shut down the Iran war. That’s one big thing. It’s time to start getting gas prices back down by closing off the attacks on Iran and genuinely getting to the table so the Strait opens back up (and we quit screwing the rest of the world) to let the ships through. Shut down the blockade and take care of the people who have been out on the water for what seems like forever because of Trump’s shizzle.

Actually, we need to get tariffs removed after we put a choke chain on him. That should help the economy. And we need to talk to our Canadian neighbors about tariffs. Mexico has been quiet about the tariffs, but they also need to be considered. Then we need to tell the world that we have squelched Trump and tariffs are off. That’s going to be a big thing. We can hope the world followed our elections and saw the blue tsunami. And heaved a huge sigh of relief.

There are so, so many things that need to be fixed, so, previous paragraphs notwithstanding, where in the hail do we start? Truly, where do we start? What is big enough to be first? Is it the Forever War of Iran? Is it tariffs? Both of those would help the country, IMNSHO. I’m thinking I need to start a new list of things to fix, because all of you know I enjoy my lists. Suggestions to add to said list are welcome.

It’s going to take some time for all of this to sink in. It was a spectacular day, night, and morning. I was sure about the House flipping. I was afraid to think about the Senate flipping, too. The upset was absolutely stunning. We did it. We actually did it. Never let it be said that your vote doesn’t count. Everyone’s vote counted, and people used that right to vote to tell Congress and Trump that enough is enough. Now it’s time for the real work to begin. There are a whole lot of things to think about. In the meantime, I’m worried about the Speaker and the Senate Majority leaders, which makes me think there are different people better suited for the jobs. But what do I know. The blue tsunami has hit. Now we go from here. Let us do a good job for the people of America who have placed their trust in us. Let’s do this.

It’s 4 am. Time to go to bed. I’ll see y’all soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking is the ability to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
