You know, sometimes when I sit here to write this almost brain numbing sh*t about the stratospheric stupidity of Traitor Tot, I can literally almost feel the IQ points leaking out of my ears. This is one of those times.
Somebody please explain to me, how many times must this political 4 year old imbecile touch the hot stove before he learns that simple life lesson? Not Traitor Tot. Personally, at this point I think that he secretly enjoys the burns, because of the sympathy it gets him from his idiot base.
This isn’t even ancient history, it happened less than a year ago. You all know it. Democrats and Republicans came together in a rare moment of unified purpose, and crafted the first truly comprehensive immigration reform in decades. And here’s the McGuffin. It was a truly conservative bill co-authored by stalwart conservative Senator James Lankford. The GOP celebrated it as a total victory, while Democrats were willing to bite the short term bullet in order to get the goddamn issue off of the table.
The bill was a bird-in-the-hand. It would have sailed through the Senate with at least 85 votes, and it would flow through the House like sh*t through a goose. But then El Pendejo ex Presidente had to come stumble footing in, pissing in the punchbowl. Wanting immigration reform to be his main cudgel to hammer Biden over the head with, he personally stepped in and demanded that the bill be killed. Despite much GOP grumbling, the bill died. And today Kamala Harris is hammeriing His Lowness with that treason on immigration every chance she gets, narrowing the gap between the two on the issue.
Now let’s hop into the wayback machine. In Trump’s disastrous term, his negotiations with Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi broke down on a new budget over funding for his idiotic border wall. Trump had to lick his nuts in public. So while the cameras rolled, and Nancy Pelosi brought up the subject of a shutdown, Trump angrily bloviated, Go ahead! Shut it down! Shut the whole damn thing down, I’ll take the responsibility. Because the people are on my side! The government shut down over the holidays, Trump didn’t get his border wall funding, in fact the Democrats got demands, Trump’s approval rating went down the sh*tter, and it took him almost a year to recover.
And now the silly bastard is at it again. Congress has until midnight on September 30th to pass a new budget or the whole shooting match goes south again. And it ain’t happening, and everybody knows it. House Squeaker MAGA Mike Johnson put forward a short term continuing resolution to kick the can down the road until mid December, after the election, but before the House or Senate can change hands, but it’s a suitcase with a broken handle, it ain’t going anywnhere. Mainly because of a stupid provision that would require states to authenticate proof of citizenship before issuing a voters registration card. He brought it to the floor last week, where it promptly crashed and burned.
Johnson is nothing if not bone stupid, so he tried the same stunt again, and the results were totally predictable. But at least this time Johnson has his head out of his MAGA ass. As he brought it up to the floor for its fatal vote, he also said that if it failed again, they would likely nave no choice but to present a clean CR to keep from shutting the government down.
Which brought immediate squeals of outrage from the porker on two cloven hooves. Traitor Tot loves that authentication demand, it plays not only into his immigration shtick, but also feeds into his millions of illegal immigrants are voting Democratic Big Lie. He basically ordered not only Johnson, but all GOP House members to toe the line or face his wrath when he returns. Which is the political equivalent of a murder-suicide pact. For two reasons.
First, no party that has ever initiated a government shutdown for political purposes has failed to get spanked for it at the ballot box. And a shutdown now would be the worst. Mainly because the economy is beginning to recover and people don’t want anything to upset the apple cart. But the kill shot is that if the shutdown occurs, even if for only a day or two for Trump to fluff his duff, early mail-in and in person voting will be underway in most states, and outraged voters can immediately vent their spleens. Not just on Il Douche, but on all Republicans.
So. It. Ain’t. Happening. And even a MAGA pragmatist like Mike Johnson knows that it can’t happen. Worse yet, you know who else already knows it can’t happen? That’s right, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries knows it too. And he’s going to take Trump’s piggish obstinance and ram it right up Mike Johnson’s MAGA ass.
It’s happened before. The last time the CR issue came up to continue to fund the government, Trump issued non negotiable demands in return for passing the CR. Not only didn’t The Cheeto Prophet get his deamnds, Jeffries actually successfully negotiated concessions from Johnson for Democratic support, including restoring cuts from a previous GOP engineered CR. And if this scenario actually unfolds, this time Jeffries goes into the negotiations already knowing he has Johnson in the hurt locker.
Now you all know why I walk around, and sit at the laptop with tufts of cotton in my ears. It’s so that I don’t lose any more brain cells than necessary. But I don’t know how long I can keep this up.

Democrats should be proactive on GOP attempts to add in the “proof of citizenship” poison pill. The message is simple – It’s ALREADY illegal for non-citizens to vote. States have ways of verifying registrations are from citizens and flagging any that are suspect. The system has worked so well only a handful (almost literally) number of non-citizens (or any citizen not eligible to vote for that matter) wind up getting identified and prosecuted. The GOP is trying to HYPE a fix for a problem that doesn’t exist.
Our side, from Harris and Walz on down need to be making that point every day. So should Democratic lawmakers. And pundits that support us that appear on various networks. Social media needs to be flooded with this. I’ll guarantee you if Trump manages to bully the House GOP into a shutdown they will try to blame it on us claiming we have allowed “illegals” to vote in droves and fought to stop it.” We need to cut them off at the knees and right effing NOW!
Mr. Peepers had bett clean up the resolution and get it presented…….even Moscow Mitch McTurtle sniveled that it would be “stupid” to shut down the government just weeks before the election.
Nothing screams “We can’t govern, we have no idea how to legislate” like a government shut down for that very reason
Well, of course, the measure would do NO good this year. You cannot pass a law and enact it immediately; it’s never been done. There’s always some leeway, generally a minimum of 30 days but, if done that soon, it begins to conflict with some states’ current laws. The funny thing is that Georgia, for instance, has a voter registration deadline of “the 5th Monday before Election Day” and Florida’s deadline is 29 days before Election Day. And, according to the Vote.org website, neither state *requires* any form of identification to register.
The real irony is that states which allow voter registration ON Election Day already require ID to verify the registration (not to mention to ensure your correct polling information).
