Duncan Hunter Throws Wife Under Bus: She Was The One Handling The Finances

Indicted Republican congressman Duncan Hunter shifted blame onto his wife, Margaret, for federal charges that the couple had stolen a quarter of a million dollars in campaign funds to furnish their extravagant lifestyle, including a $600 airline ticket for a pet rabbit.

The couple pleaded not guilty Thursday morning to the charges of wire fraud, falsification of records and prohibited use of campaign contributions.

Duncan Hunter responded to the charges by saying that his wife was the one handling his finances.

A former Marine, Hunter said that when he went to Iraq in 2003 he gave his wife power of attorney and she has handled his finances since then. Hunter said on Fox News, “She was also the campaign manager, so whatever she did that’ll be looked at too, I’m sure.  But I didn’t do it.  I didn’t spend any money illegally.”

Money was used to cover dentist bills, the Hunter children’s private school tuition, family vacations, and a $462 bill for 30 tequila shots and one steak.

Apparently Duncan and Margaret Hunter arrived at court separately and sat four seats apart in the courtroom.

I’m not going to tell this guy how to live his life, but throwing your wife under the bus probably isn’t the best choice.  However, I suppose it’s clear you’re not making good life choices when you fork over $600 dollars for a plane ticket for a rabbit…Wonder if that included an in-flight meal??
