The FBI warrant search of Trump’s clubhouse consumed more hours of news time than any other issue this week and garnered international attention. Nowhere was it more brilliantly and succinctly described than by Australian satirists, The Shovel.

We are certainly no fans of Donald Trump – let’s make that clear from the outset. But yesterday’s raid by the FBI on the home of a former president sets a dangerous precedent.
A precedent which now means that anyone who evades taxes, attempts to undermine an election, sexually assaults women, manipulates the value of their assets, uses state resources to enrich themselves or aids and abets the overthrow of a democratically elected government will be subject to investigation.
Is that the world we want to live in? Where anyone accused of insurrection can be subject to questioning from law enforcement officers?
It’s a slippery slope. Before we know it, regular citizens accused of defrauding the government, concealing evidence, manipulating financial documents, tampering with witnesses or perverting the course of justice will also be held to account.

There’s more – read it in full here.

It found its way to Brett and Ben Meiselas of Meidas Touch Media. They were so impressed Ben read out the opening paragraphs on the Meiselas brothers’ latest podcast (starts at 18.08).

Political satire is what Australian comedy does best and members of The Shovel are outstanding proponents of the genre. They followed up with a brief media statement from the FBI that begins

The FBI has moved to reassure Americans that the nuclear secrets documents supposedly held at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home are not the versions with pictures and colouring-in pages, meaning there is no immediate cause for panic.

  1. I dreamed I was trapped in an absurd Monty Python skit where evil twits took the reins of government…then I woke up & found reality was much much worse. Now for something completely different. On point as usual Al.

  2. TFG stated he encourages the immediate release of the warrant. Well mango man, it doesn’t get more “immediate” than releasing the docs yourself does it? No, I don’t think so.

These guys in Australia are pretty good. Why is it I’ve not seen any of their stuff yet? Ought to be regular contributors on DK.

  3. Never before have we had such a horrendous criminal, guilty of so many crimes (including TREASON!) illegitimately steal the office of President! Reagan was nowhere near as prolific in his crimes as Traitor Tot! His treason and other crimes aside, traitor Tot has the blood of hundreds of thousands of Americans on his hands, their deaths caused directly by his inaction and lies about Covid! The list of Traitor Tot’s crimes seems endless, him being a lifelong criminal from a family of (mostly) criminals! No one is above the law, so yes where there is evidence of crimes, there should be investigations!!

  4. It would be funnier if it wasn’t so true.
So.happy to know that tfg’s pages in which he colored outside the lines and scribbled nasty comments in Sharpie about world leaders are safely in DOJ’s hands. Wouldn’t want his bff Vlad to.have them framed and hung in his bathrooms. That would be so emarrassing.
