This is an interesting presidency, the 47th. We have a First Lady who doesn’t even live in the White House, but just checks in now and again and a *president* who lives there part time and golfs the rest. This is the American government in the year 2025. The rest of the country is rolling back into work after a three-day weekend. But if you’re Trump, your work pattern is inverted. Every week is a four-day week, if that, and holiday weekends are extended out.
So where does that leave Trump’s priorities? What’s going to happen with the war in Ukraine today? Or the fact that the markets are iffy and the S&P has shed $3.66 trillion since Trump was inaugurated, according to senior index analyst Howard Silverblatt? Or, the fact that NPR and the State of Colorado are suing the Trump administration over illegal cuts to public radio?
And what about all the promises Trump made during his campaign? Who is working on:
- A tax exemption on tips?
- A tax exemption of overtime pay?
- A tax exemption of Social Security protections?
- The release of Epstein-related files?
What about all that, huh? Answer: Donald doesn’t give a damn. On his best day, Donald doesn’t give a damn and on his worst day he doesn’t give a flying fuck. He got what he came here to do, which was stay out of prison and he’s managed to enrich himself to the tune of $5 billion with crypto currency and other Trumpian scams. So he’s doing fine. In fact, he’s “got everything,” as he told the crowd at Arlington Cemetary yesterday and God gave it all to him, because he’s God’s favorite kid — we guess.
As nutty as Trump is, it would frankly not surprise me if he did a Peter O’Toole number like in The Ruling Class, and began to mock hanging from a cross. Or, maybe he’ll attempt to walk on the White House swimming pool as Chauncey Gardiner did in Being There.
Donald will probably be golfing today. That’s what he does. He’s basically a professional golfer, to all intents and purposes, because we’re paying him to golf. And he sucks at golf like he sucks at governing. But he’s well paid to do it, that much is certain.
Go check it out. According to the White House official calendar, Trump has no public events scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and no closed-press engagements, strategy sessions and the like, are listed either. So he’s off playing. Nice work if you can get it.
And one thing to consider: However fit or unfit for office we have ever evaluated each president to be, at least the guy showed up. All the presidents prior to Trump have kept regular hours, hit the Oval Office at the same time each day, had predictable and documented plans and meetings. He and he alone is phoning the job in. If that much.

Zoomers, we are in need of any assistance you can give. It’s been a grueling time in this business since last election day and then I threw a monkey wrench into things by getting sick and needing a brief hospitalization. So PZ is dragging. We need any help you can give to keep our heads above water. Thanks for any help you can give. You are the wind beneath our wings. Ursula

I always saw being there as a horror film. and forget otoole, trump believes he himself is the finest man whoever breathed. funny how that came back around to Peter sellers.
I’ll bet when you decided that Being There was a horror film that you never thought you would be living in the reality of it, did you?
Interesting trivia: One of my therapists is in being there. I had a psychotherapist named Laurie Jefferson in Los Angeles. She was an actress and she played the role of the television reporter in Being There.
I thought W approached the Chauncey level of simplicity. I never thought it could get so much worse. what made it scary was the thought that the powerful people chance fell in with thought he was a genius of great depth and they could make him president. they weren’t necessarily bad just not as bright as they should have been. trump and those around him are equally oblivious to reality but they are evil, it is horrific and it’s not a movie.
