And it’s not even the real thing! Gilt and spray paint, and the color looks wrong. Everyone knows the sheen and patina of *real* gold. Donnie thinks that if it looks like gold, everyone thinks it is gold, and it makes him look ridiculously wealthy. Not so fast, boyo. Yer missing something there, namely, real gold. My compliments to Raw Story:
President Donald Trump was roundly ridiculed on Monday night after he posted a picture of the “golden gift” he plans to give the country for its 250th birthday celebration this week. Trump posted a picture of a golden eagle attached to the front facade of the White House on his Truth Social feed. The AI-generated eagle is shown holding a red, white, and gold shield surrounded by 11 stars. “A Golden Gift to the White House for its 250th Birthday Year!” Trump wrote in the post.
We can already see where it’s going, and that’s just the introduction! Also, the closest an eagle ever comes to gold is when it still has its juvenile plumage. Everyone knows eagles aren’t gold! Yes, yes, everyone but Donald Trump. Why does it have to be gold, anyhow? Yes, yes, Donald Trump. Is there someone who could hack in and make the eagle the correct colors? Oh, wait, they make them gold on flagpoles. Drat.
Critics of the president shared their reactions on social media. “Trump’s hired Putin as his decorator,” Paul Rudnick, a playwright and author, posted on X. //// “The traditional 250th anniversary gift is fascism,” Melissa Ryan, author of the “CTRL Alt Right Delete” newsletter on Substack, posted on Bluesky. //// “Everything else aside, the White House is in fact not 250 years old,” Nicholas Handler, an assistant law professor at Texas A&M University, posted on Bluesky.
Putin does decorating? Remind me not to hire him. Ever. Trump has him; that’s more than enough. He can go back to Russia now. Nope, the White House is not 250. The country is. The White House is 234 years old. I checked. Because I felt like being silly. This is not one of my in-depth pieces. Sorry not sorry.
“It’s gonna be so fun tearing all of this shit down,” Keith Edwards, a liberal political commentator, posted on X. //// “Okay, but seriously, why does it have eleven stars?” Franklin Leonard, a contributing editor at Vanity Fair, posted on X. //// “Cool stuff, very cool,” Dave Cavell, a former speechwriter for Kamala Harris, posted on X along with a photo of the golden eagle that was displayed at Nazi rallies.
See, now, I wasn’t going to mention the 11 stars. Trump needs a better designer. Or to brush up on his history. No. Okay, a better designer. Or maybe that lady aide that everyone keeps whispering about, but no one knows much of anything. Nevertheless, where are the other stars? Did Donnie hide them somewhere to put up later and surprise everyone? Heh, actually, it would be a surprise if they showed up. Only the Shadow Knows.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

In fairness, there is an eagle species known as the golden eagle but the “gold” on its plumage is largely confined to its head and neck (there’s a fairly lovely image at the Wiki page of a golden eagle in flight where the gold is very prominent but it could be due to the lighting which is coming from overhead and behind the bird; the image is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_eagle#Flight) but it’s still much more muted than the golden eagle you’d see adorning a flagpole.
Also, I happened on an Instagram post by a former White House photographer who noted the 11 stars *conveniently* happens to coincide with the number of states represented by the Confederacy. Completely fits with Drumpf’s worldview, dontcha think?
Oops! I forgot about the golden eagle! Color me embarrassed. Gorgeous bird! Thank you for the info and the picture.
11 in the Confederacy huh. Oy. *rolls eyes*
His not so gold patina begs a ditty, being ‘Gold tinge’r. He’s a fraud. A fraud without a midas touch. God tinge’r … rinsen repeat’ errr no. The patina is becoming threadbare thin and he can’t do a thing about it. It’s all due to himself and it’s turning out to be a self-sustaining reality, bearing fruits of prophetic and recogniseable failure. He’s reaping what he did, does, and will do, so he’ll continue to have failed, failed and future fail. All glossed over in a fake gold patina.
The patina most certainly is wearing thin, to the point it’s almost non-existent. His charisma is nearly gone, too. Good riddance. May he continue to flop.
