Before the advent of Donald Trump we might have asked ourselves, “What has been America’s greatest mistake?” The answer would have been slavery. At least that’s what Ben Franklin warned from the very beginning, that it would be the downfall of the republic. But Franklin most likely never conceived of a communication medium like television, or the power it would have to dupe a large number of people into believing that a characterless buffoon, notorious for multiple bankruptcies, was actually a man of accomplishment, who could and would improve their lives. “You’re going to get so tired of winning.” Only a game show host would even conceive of a line like that. Yet so many fell for it.

Mystery thriller writer Don Winslow’s opinion is that Donald Trump is our greatest mistake — and not just him. but the entire school of sharks that he swam in with, who have blatantly polluted and corrupted our institutions.

In the wake of the re-election of Bush 43 back in 2004 the most common headline overseas in newspapers and news magazines was “How could 60 million Americans be so stupid?” or some variation on that theme. I can’t help but wonder if, especially if it’s clear Trump loses in a landslide not only abroad but here in the U.S. virtually every non-conservative publication will have a picture of Trump (probably that shot walking from Marine One after getting back to the WH from Tulsa) with the words “YOUR FIRED!”

    • The YOU’RE FIRED! theme will be in yuuuge point type in headlines, is my prediction. It’s an image that I’ve seen in my fantasies, many times.

    • Hey, though I have been a lifelong Democrat who has even participated in some small campaigns I had never registered to vote. That all changed when the clown Donald Trump got elected. I knew from way back that he was an idiot and a loser. My mother hit on him for some odd reason. Maybe it was the draft dodger thing, I don’t know. Anyway at the very young age of sixty one I registered to vote for the very first time. You can’t bitch if you don’t vote. Now, why in the hell did you let him in the White House in the first place. He’s gotta go this time! We will suffer the ravages of coved indefinitely under him. He’s so incompetent that millions will die under his watch for this reason alone. And with his stormtroopers we are looking at a vast civil war if we don’t do something with this asshole. Donald Trump you’re fired!

There is now a poster in the tubes in London: Every American must be accompanied by an adult.” We have become a nation that is mocked, disrespected, even pitied under this lying,cheating, corrupt, inept, silly, mystifying, ugly, bloated, misogynistic, narcissistic, sadistic, cruel, satanic, Hitlerian traitor Trump.

    • My God. Can you find that image, or a link? I’m going to look for that. That is horrific. But it’s also very understandable.

    • So, is there a similar one for “every Briton?” I mean, it’s not like the UK has been all that much more “adult” in action since Trump was elected. Between the mess that is/was Brexit and the travesties of the last two PMs (May and the current Trump wannabe, Johnson) plus the “touch” of racism directed at Meghan Markle (now, Duchess of Sussex) before and after her marriage to Prince Harry, it doesn’t seem like the Brits have much room to criticize.
