DeSantis has a real challenge ahead of him.
Republicans like DeSantis because he “is” Trump but without the problems. So DeSantis must adhere to the MAGA line at all costs. Indeed, his most famous stunts demonstrating his ability to “own the libs” – which is the MAGA raison d’etre – “Don’t Say Gay,” and the kidnapping of asylum seekers, are actually “more MAGA” than Trump ever accomplished. Trump did MAGA on anger alone. DeSantis does MAGA with anger and policy.
Eventually, though, DeSantis is going to have to point to Trump as insufficiently MAGA or “America First,” as the title is morphing toward. We have real evidence now that DeSantis has found a major wedge issue against Trump.
To this day, despite the numbers of Americans dying of COVID and the people who die are almost exclusively unvaxed, a true MAGA simply cannot be vaccinated, period. “America First” is part of their identity, and refusing the vaccine is part of that identity.
Meanwhile, back at el Ranchero del Mar-a-Lago, sits the guy who oversaw operation warp speed, bringing that vaccine to America’s companies as fast as possible, where they could require employees to be vaccinated.
Watch how this works. It’s a sly first shot, but Ron understands Florida politics very well and has hit this head-on:

It is wide open and made to order. “I am the true MAGA.”
It is a stunning premise. Amidst the worst epidemic that the country has faced since 1918, DeSantis is saying that he wouldn’t have rushed a vaccine through. Ultimately, that’s MAGA for you. Stupidity. Obstinance. Don’t tell us what to do. And, stupid wedge issues like “Don’t say Gay,” the vaccine, plus some GOP basics, cutting taxes, and investigating Democrats while holding on to power. It’s what they do. Like college government only meaner and with less sex.
Working hard at protecting the country with a vaccine is held against you.

By all means, let the dummy get more of his supporters killed or crippled. Deathsantis comes with his own set of problems that will follow him as soon as he leaves Florida.
Two thoughts here:
First, I would love if someone could manage to hack De Santis’s medical records and find out if he managed to get vaccinated on the DL. (Reactions should be hilarious as De Santis tries to respond to the charge–although, obviously, he’d try to hide the facts by suing the hacker for violating HIPAA.)
Second, I would love for someone with active COVID to hide it just long enough to get front and center with De Santis and cough all over him (but profusely “apologize” for it).

Anyone with functioning brain cells knows goddamn good and well DeSantis has gotten EVERY vaccination in the protocol. And made goddamn sure he and the people that surround him each day were at the head of the fucking line!

Funny thing, “Operation Warp Speed” was only possible because Obama set the wheels in motion and created the framework. And then Trump (of course) bungled the roll-out. All the spotlight shining on things made grifting too challenging for him and Jared. It took Biden and his administration to get a good vaccination program going. Sadly, by then Trump himself had created massive doubts in the minds (I know – WHAT minds could these goobers have?) of the very people DeSantis will now try to exploit. He’d better be careful that Trump doesn’t managed to toss that grenade right back in his lap.
It may be breathtakingly evil, but it is definitely one of his more cunning stunts.
No, it’s not. Because if he convinces enough of the people he’s courting in this public a fashion, the only support he’ll gain is going to be dead and gone by the time 2024 rolls around.
Studies are out showing red-state GOP-tards are still dying at a higher rate due to being un-vaxxed. Electorally this should give Dems a boost going forward.
